I think we will make a few small moves but nothing major. We REALLY need to wait till AD/EG come back and we'll go from there.

I would love to get Bledsoe. His athleticism is off the charts, and he def is a starter in this league.

As for trades, I think the Hornets could target a win now team and do something like Lopez and Vasquez for Bledsoe, a late first, and expirings.

I would not like that trade. I'm not sold on Bledsoe and a late first is about as useful as tits on a hog. Is Bledsoe really even a significant upgrade over Vasquez?

This sparked the post. Thought we'd get good ideas.

I would love to have Bledsoe. But how bad would it be that we would be parting ways with our only true center on the roster?

If Anderson sticks around (and he'd better), Davis is your 5 of the future. Lopez's value will never be higher than it is right now.

The results from this season don't matter. Long term I see Anderson and Davis as the 4/5. Sure they can both do spot duty at SF, but that really doesn't play to their strengths.

Also, Lopez' primary usefulness for the Hornets is as a big body ala Aaron Gray. We don't need a starting 7 footer, we need a backup 7 footer for about $2.5 million or less. The money you save by swapping Lopez for an Aaron Gray type will be the money you need in a year to keep Smith.

I would, too, but as proposed, that's more of a "one step forward, two steps back" type of move.

I'm not sold on Bledsoe, though.

We need our big three to play together and make this an interesting place to play for other FAs.

A guy like Lopez is not really tradeable as we need a bid body center and they usually don't come cheap. Highly unlikely we find a legit replacement and it is needed to have a guy like him on our roster to help battle the guys like the Gasols and Howard.

I don't think there is a downside to it if it happens. Both Demps and Monty seem to be Vasquez fans, so if they made this trade they would see Bledsoe as an upgrade. As far as losing Lopez, I've said from the beginning that he's filling an Aaron Gray sized hole in the roster. Demps should have no problem finding a serviceable big to lean on Gasol and Dwight.

Is there anyone out there who is under a muti-year contract? Not in a position to trade away assets for some vet who is on a one year deal. Best shot is free agency.

Lopez is 11th in PER amongst centers. His rebounding has been disappointing and he throws up some of the ugliest shots you'll see, but he's been playing better than a "space eater", and his contract is very team friendly. I agree that Davis will play the 5 in crunch time, but if all three are healthy, we can always have 2 of Davis/Anderson/Lopez on the floor. I think that's too good of a situation to risk on a guy that has had a great quarter of a season after not really playing well previously. I just don't know if Smiht can play center as effectively as Lopez.

With the aforementioned Bledsoe trade you'd basically be swapping Vasquez's rookie deal for Bledsoe's rookie deal and Lopez for a late 1st. Outside of something like that I think the trades would be for FA targets like Jennings. Demps isn't going to hurt his flexibility unless he can get someone he really wants.

Other than Gordon's knee, playing Davis/Anderson together is a problem. Admittedly a small sample size but they have not played one minute together this year. Monty has to get them on the floor at the same time.

The Clippers will ask for a shitload for Bledsoe.

I'd love to have him. I'd like to get Jennings.

I just don't know if we'll give up the assets to get one of those guys.

This is a rough year for free agents and draft prospects. If Dell makes some Good moves, he will have earned that extension IMO. Slim (realistic) pickings in my mind. Hopefully, some prospects emerge just don't see anyone that jumps off the board for our unit unless we move Gravy/Lopez.
