Jeremy Lin met with both the Brooklyn Nets and New Orleans Pelicans at the start of free agency in Palo Alto at 9:01 PM.

Lin was coming off an excellent season with the Charlotte Hornets in which he restored his value.

Lin announced his decision to sign with the Nets at 7:02 AM just a few hours later.

"This is where I want to be," said Lin, who signed a three-year, $36 million deal with Brooklyn that includes a player option in the final year. "I feel this is the best place for me to become the player I think I can become. I want to see how good I can become and be a big part of an organization, and that's what they gave me here."

The Houston Rockets also showed interest in Lin but talks never progressed.

While Lin was intrigued by the idea of playing with Anthony Davis, the Pelicans weren't willing to commit the type of contract he received from the Nets.

Would rather Galloway and Moore for cheap.

Jeremy Lin is a terrible basketball player

Probably didn't love the role they pitched him compared to Brooklyn.

This was well known and he talked about it on JJ's podcast. He would have been backup here (didn't know about Lauren at time) and wanted back in NYC and starting

Lin and his fans are the basketball version of Tebowmania.

No thanks.

I agree. I don't think Jeremy Lin is very good at all.

Lin was their #2 target, after Hill

Remember, they knew about Jrue and Reke back then. Weren't counting on either to play in 2016

Dayum, my skills would fetch 3 year $15 million this day in the NBA. They are just giving money away.

I definitely don't think it was made public by then. WHether or not the organization knew is a different question.

Wow, surprised they did not make a bigger push for a veteran PG.

They talked to a couple but liked Moore better than any of them and when Galloway got free from his QO, he was too good of a value to pass up. They then looked at min guys like Felton, but were fine with Frazier

if Tebow had been Joe DiMaggio on a streak.

I think Lin played very well for a few weeks.

Nothing new here. Brett Dawson discussed this on the Locked In Pels podcast when free agency started. Lin was the level free agent they targeted, but the money he wanted was too much.
