Only bad news is I can't see Holiday fitting in very well with this style of play.

Lots of people saying that Holiday looked really good in the scrimmage and played far more minutes than people expected. He bodied up other guards on D well and was moving.

And multiple people have said Reke looked great, but was jogging the ball up a lot instead of moving the ball like other guards were doing.

Gordon and Ryno were absolutely on fire though.

Davis apparently looked a bit out of sorts.

If these two make it rain from 3 this year the Pels will be fun to watch...

I hope I'm wrong then - maybe it will actually do him good. I feel like he's so fragile that if we play like this it would put extra miles on his odometer but maybe run and gun is counter-intuitively healthy or something... I can kinda see that.

Obviously a healthy Holiday would be great in this system (way better at the 1 than Evans) but I just worry he's never going to be right.

Holiday said in an interview yesterday before the scrimmage that he hasn't felt pain since June. He supposedly played more than 15 minutes in the scrimmage yesterday, so I'll be interested to see if we get any reports on how he's doing today.

He was given a 45 min limit by the coaching/medical staff for the scrimmage, but they didn't specify if that included the walk through or the warm ups. But they said he wants to go 100 mph but really is trying to limit himself at the moment to maintain with this protocol

I'm sure they will be smart with his practicing and everything. The 15 minute time limit for games is smart though, because that becomes a total grind.

Opposite of MontyBall:

1. Pass around perimeter for 18 seconds
2. Iso with 6 seconds left
3. Take contested shot or dish to Asik under the basket

I'm not really surprised by that. Tyreke seemed to thrive in plodding iso situations more than anything.

Huge Reke fan, but taking the ball up slowly is my biggest pet peeve of his.

Wonder if that's a Monty thing or a Tyreke thing.

His last year with the Kings, think Tyreke generated 25% of his offense in transition. In regards to pace, I don't worry that Tyreke doesn't like to run.

My worries with Tyreke/pace: pace is more than just sprinting up the floor. Capitalizing upon increased pace requires players who know what is a "good shot" and a "bad shot." Have never been impressed by Tyreke's awareness or decision-making.. but do think that having more opportunities to attack when the defense is swinging (from what will presumably be more ball movement) and also in transition will still benefit him.

Brett Dawson ?@BDawsonWrites 19h19 hours ago I get why the Pelicans are going to be cautious with Jrue Holiday, but he looks like he’ll be ready to roll when minutes restriction ends.

This is from one of the new guys at the Advocate. Pretty encouraging....

I think his style with the ball is to glide into the frontcourt before taking his true attack first step and driving. He's not a plodder, just not a constantly full speed off-the-bounce guy.

I think that's what the early season minutes restriction is for. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if he's snakebitten.

If he's fully healthy come January, we could be pretty scary.
