I expect Darius Miller will start at the 3. The finishing five will probably differ based on the opponent and flow of the game.
Thats been my hope. I think if he can hit the 3 in the 37%+ range, I can stand below average defense from him.

Makes sense. I did not expect Allen to start (especially with Rondo on the court). I am expecting Miller if roster stays as it is or Cunningham if he is re-signed. Would be nice if we could get a pure shooter to supplement. If we could snag McDermott from OKC for a minimal price it would be nice. However, not sure I see that as realistic.

That would be nice, but we don't have any assets to give back, and he's not worth a 1st on his expiring deal. And if OKC is shopping him, they would want to save salary, and include Singlers contract too.

If the pels thought they could finish in the top 6, adding McDermott and singler would be worth considering. Mcdermott is b+.
9 pt in 23 minutes.
42.5% 3
87% ft

Skill needed by pels = 3 pt shooting.

I hope a deal can be made. I think he would make his open looks. We are talking about ncaa national scoring champ.

For expiring contract mcdermott, offer okc switch first rounders.

I'd do that. Don't know if OKC would.
Not sure how much his salary savings really help them, and don't know if we can even make that trade where we get him with the TPE.

The trade would have to be Ajinca for Singler and McDermmot. The Pels now have enough tax space to make that uneven trade, but that'd pretty much be all of your moves and you'd have no backup big on the roster other than Asik.

that's what i was thinking too, but you can't trade away Ajinca, not bring another big back in the trade, and have no way of getting another big.

Regarding the 'cut' possessions from Allen last season: People who are bringing those stats up are conveniently leaving out the fact that he was in the 7th percentile. Just because he does it a lot doesn't mean he is good at it. But getting a guy willing to work off-ball still helps some. I wrote more about it here: LINK

what makes it less of a concern is that Allen won’t be playing huge minutes for the Pelicans thus limiting the time on the court where this can hurt the team. Allen should not be starting (I think that spot is Darius Miller’s to lose right now) in a backcourt with Rajon Rondo

What are your thoughts on Miller? You should try and find one of the Euro guys that would have seen him to do the podcast like you got the DLeague guy to give us his thoughts on Diallo last year.

Whoever sees this signing as a reason not to sign Dante back is not seeing the bigger picture. We replaced a starter, albeit with evident limitations (Hill), with a player who was always considered a non shooting, but exceptional D (Allen), in his HEYDAY.

Allen is not a starting caliber player NOW, and shooting is still the same, so one can figure our chances, currently, have decreased to make playoffs (whatever that was pre-Hill injury).

Dante is necessary still. In fact, I feel Dante may very well be a 2-3 game difference between making or missing playoffs. Mind you, the way he shot the 3 for a while last year, I would rather him finish games, over Hill, given the current starting lineup.

Sign Dante, and we have a number of SG/SF serviceable players (Moore, Jrue, Allen, Clark, Dante, Crawford) to provide a number of combos till the stats bear what rotations work best. Key is to Gentry figuring it out early.

Allen is just another serviceable piece to throw out there to see if he can contribute, in a given game, based upon defensive matchup/shooting streak.

Sign Dante, don't be surprise if he ends up your starting SF, at beginning/some point of the year, not that it means we make the playoffs, but because Tony Allen is NOT about to increase our chances of playoffs, with his signing. Period.

That is a great idea. When it comes to guests on the pod it can be tricky. My schedule is very inconsistent, so I record when I have time. Coordinating that with others--who also have weird schedules--can be difficult. But I do want more guests on this year.

You could interview 2012 Big 12 Co-freshman of the year Quincy Miller?
