He went $200k above the minimum, I was expecting around $3 million. I haven't heard Ferry's name mentioned in months, but Demps seems to have stopped being a complete pushover in these negotiations since Ferry became official. Too bad he didn't come on board before the Asik contract.

Holiday wanted the max and more than the MLE for his brother. As bad as the deal was it could have been much worse.

Remember Jrue needing to sleep on it? That was posturing and they held firm on the offer they made.

This roster would be pretty legit if we had the money from Asik/Ajinca to use on another wing or backup big. Unfortunately we will have to give up a first and Moore to get rid of Asik. Not sure about Ajinca. Don't think anything like this happens until the deadline next year but we shall see..

I love bringing back Dante especially since he can play some 4...still hope we somehow can flip Ajinca and/or Asik for a stretch four type...not sure who that could be and when. Also curious about a third PG, but I think we're OK there for now. I wonder if we are saving that $1.5m and will use towards a DPE once the season starts...I'm thinking Josh Smith or Martell Webster once they inevitably don't make the team out of camp

The Dante Cunningham $2.3M contract now has the Pelicans $970K below the tax with 14 guaranteed contracts and 1 partial (Jordan Crawford).

Somehow get Ennis and I'm more confident in this team.

I thought it was $1.5m saved? I guess the league portion paid is still included toward the cap? Also, is Marks still taking into consideration the unlikely incentive saved from Solo's contract?

Whatever happened with Frank Jackson's deal...are we going to restructure with the provision in his deal?

Lastly, and I'm still very confused by this...I never understood why Dante's cap hold wasn't taken into consideration this whole time...you'd think if that were and the amount we signed him to we'd have much more significant savings.

The league doesn't subsidize portions of every deal, just minimums for players with more than 2 years in the league. This was a non minimum deal using Bird Rights most likely so no subsidy is involved.

Because Jrue's incentives took the team so close to the hard cap if there had been an actual market for Dante the Pels wouldn't have been able to afford to keep him.

I understand but I thought, as a matter of misunderstanding the cap probably, that cap holds MUST be factored in unless rescinded. I understand what you are saying, but I thought from an economical rule that his cap hold was taken into consideration. Color me incorrect there.
