We don't have the Jim and Joes that GS has. A high flying offense can win a championship.

And what about the draft? You want to give up an asset(s) to get a pick? I wouldn't be excited at all to move an asset for a blindfolded dart throw(which 90% of these guys are).

Yea I don't understand why this guy wants us to send off actual NBA players for guys that have like a 25% or less chance of actually playing for us.

and I have 705 career games to back up my point.

The article I posted earlier summed it up well. Gentry has never had a very talented team outside of the Phoenix team that tore shite up.

Our first real shot at the promised land won't be this year. I'd be completely fine with getting to the 2nd round.

I mean most of those 705 games were on terrible rosters or as an intern. I mean gentry has proven he can take a team to a very high level(Suns nearly made the NBA finals)

You are aware that a coaching change turned a nearly identical GSW team from first round exit to NBA champions in one year right?

I'm not expecting championship anytime in the immediate future, but GS was a first round exit team last year. Just like us this year.

Had little to do with coaching change, and more to do with the emergence of Draymond Green, the health of Andrew Bogut, the health of Kevin Durant, the clippers beating a good spurs team, then shitting the bed against an injured Rockets team, Memphis being Memphis, also with an injury to their PG, and a title game against a team who's 2nd best player was either a short white guy from Australia or a tall white guy from Russia.

They are easily one of the weaker championship teams in the last 35 years, but they did what they had to do and deserve their championship.

THey also have the MVP making $10mil, and 3 other starters making $7 million total in Green/Barnes/Thompson

They had $14 million tied up into the MVP, runner up defensive MVP, and an all star, while we have Eric Gordon making that.

All the stars lined up for the GSW team this year, and the last 3 years in the draft, and it was their title to lose.

I'm not excited about the Gentry hire, but i'll give him a fair chance.

And if we are healthy, there is absolutely no reason we can't win 50+ games and win a playoff series or two.

Pirate is going to be even more upset about this. I mean the 56th pick was going to make our team into a championship level team.

I wish everybody would get off the but hurt about the coach and BS.

Just wait and see. I am excited about an up tempo style team.

Gentry seems like he has learned you need a good supporting coaching staff and he has done that.

History of the 56th pick:
2014 wobbity wobbity
2013 Peyton Siva D Leaguer
2012 bippity boppity
2011 bada bing
2010 bing bang bong
2009 mufasa
2008 Simba
2007 Ramon Sessions
2006 ying yang twins
2005 Amir Johnson
2004 blada blada
2003 John Smith
2002 Johny Smith
2001 Johnny Smith
2000 Jon Smith
1999 Jonathon Smith
1998 Jonn Smith
1997 Jonny Smith
1996 J Smith
1995 Chris Carr, mediocre bench player that had to go overseas to finish his career

20 years, two guys worth a shite.
the pick is pretty much worthless and whoever they pick has a very very very little chance of making the team, and even if they did, they'd contribute nothing b/c none or even better than Jimmer.

Get your panties out your wad, we dont' need the draft this year, we need health and cap space for next year.

I tried to make it easy to tell which picks were foreigners, and which ones were college guys.

I love people who read one post in a thread then jump in 5 pages later and comment like they know what they're talking about.

I never said I expected the 56th pick to be some all star stud. I said selling the pick coupled with doing NOTHING in the draft for a team that has no cap room to sign FA's is stupid. This shows a pattern year after year of auctioning off the future and having to overpay for FA's.

Evidently I'm crazy for wanting to grow a team from the draft like many uber successful teams in the west have outside of large markets.

We simply don't have the resources/history/championship caliber team to draw in big FA's. No one is taking a pay cut to come to NOLA.

You're assuming that Dell didn't try to move into the first. Maybe he did and found out that the asking price was entirely too high. You're upset about something where you have maybe 5% of the information.

you're right. All that matters is the end result though, and in the end...we came up with nothing....again.

No, we came up with the ability to sign a player we wouldn't otherwise have access to. You can question whether Asik was the player to target over Mozgov or Koufos, but using the pick to upgrade from minimum level centers is far more than nothing.

And now what? We have basically maxed out our cap. Asik is the player he's going to be, meaning we will have 0 offensive production at center. Do you really want to sign him long to a 40-50 million dollar deal? How does he fit in Gentry's uptempo Phoenix Suns offense?

You expect this team to make any kind of jump with the same roster next year and a retread coach? We can't afford anyone in free agency, and no one really wants our awful contracts, which leaves us with the draft to at least try to get some depth.
