Dell is really trying to lose that first round pick huh?
Sorry if this is really old news. I think I may remember reading something about this a while back but I wasn't sure and this article by Zach Lowe was today

Yeah I was just reading this (great work by Lowe as usual). It was just kind of thrown in in the middle and I was like WTF?

As a Hawks fan, this I've heard of the Hawks talking about trading Dwight. I think we've been getting good value out of him so far. I wouldn't be in favor of it unless they did decide to rebuild the roster.

I mean, in theory, Dwight would compliment AD well. Is an excellent rebounder and all. But in practice...

even the most plugged in observers of the league basically have no good answers for what the pels could/should do going forward
hope really is a plan I guess

Good article, but:
For Goran Dragic or Reggie Jackson? Is that a joke from Lowe or nah?

I don't think it's a joke, I think he's thinking about it from Detroit and Miami's perspective where they'd expect a pick back. But yeah, that'd be stupid for the Pels to even think about.

Holiday re-signing for 15 million/per season seems unlikely, right?

With Dell "I bid against myself and win every time" Demps in charge $15 million seems ludicrous. Zach Lowe is probably one of the more connected and thoughtful national guys, but even he makes mistakes. But he is right in that the market for teams looking for a PG is somewhat limited so maybe the Pels get lucky, but I doubt it.

Are you guys starting to get why myself and others gave up on this organization. I know you guys didn't have access to inside info so you could blindly hope for the best, but as more and more leaks out I think you guys are starting to see what I have known for almost two years now--- this franchise is poorly run and has terribly short term goals. And it comes from the top down. Yes, they are all responsible; all have done a poor job. But firing Dell or Gentry or both won't do jack shite because the same crap is pouring down from the top regardless
Soon, you guys will realize I was never a pessimist. I was always a realist who just had more inside info than you had. It's bad guys, and it has been for a while.

For Dragic, no.
For Jackson, meh. He's basically the same player Jrue is, maybe slightly better scorer and slightly less on defense. We'd have him at 3 more years at $15M per. He's played over 70 games every year except this year, where he missed the first 21 games.
I wouldn't be thrilled about that unless we were able to dump something like Asik in it as well.
Jackson and two fillers like Bullock and Ellenson for Jrue/Asik and our first. Even that still seems like too much. Not sure it really gives us that much more cap room either. You'd only do this if you think Jrue is going to command $20M+/yr and you don't want to pay that. But if that's the case, i'd rather trade Jrue for just about anything, an expiring, or a pick, and tank, although a healthy Reke might have something to say about that.
Tanking is really the best thing we can do. Not resign Reke, DC opts out, Gallo isnt' resigned. Jrue is either let go or signed at something reasonable like $15M/yr. and draft either a SF or a PG with your top 7 pick. I think Jrue can function as a SG and have a legit PG out there with him.
We really need a good high first round pick, that works out really good, and we really need to hit something special with 1 of our 2 2nd round picks and find a diamond in the rough there (Draymond/Crowder/Middleton/Jokic/Barton/Crabbe)

We know. Some of us have been knowing. Now frick off and let the true fans talk, regardless if it's realistic or not. That's what being a fan is.

Why is living in a fantasy world better than living in the real world? I will never understand that. You guys could save yourselves so much future frustration if you just accept reality now
But whatever, this is what low IQs do I suppose. Have fun!!

Yes we all know this.
What do you want us to discuss on here? Our favorite color?

I think Lowe is off here. While the market for teams looking for a PG is somewhat limited, there is still a LOT of money out there for this free agent period. Jrue is going to become a hot ticket once the big names are gone. Jrue is also versatile enough to play with ball dominant SG's.
I think LAL, PHI, CHI, CHA, NYK, ORL, BKN, DAL, and SAC will all show interest in Jrue. Many of those teams will strike out on other free agents and at least one is going to give him $20M/yr for 4 years. I think it hurts us how well Ryno and particularly EJ are doing in HOU. Some team is going to look at the stats and see his versatility and say we can get a lot more out of him.

Howard will be just like Gordon, not wanting to play in New Orleans.
Keep the pick Dell!

You didn't. You are still here.

Everyone has known that.

It is not just top down. There is and has been a synergy between ownership and management on strategy since the very start. Dell was just as much a proponent of young vets, win now mindset as ownership. Dell was also prevented from trading the 1st last year for help to get more wins. If Dell was on a strict win now mandate from on top like you preach, he would have been fired already for his considerable lack of wins.
quote:
But firing Dell or Gentry or both won't do jack shite because the same crap is pouring down from the top regardless
You state this as fact, but you are just plain wrong. You assume no combination of coach/GM can operate under a win now mandate with one of the best players in the league on the team. That viewpoint is naive and driven by your affinity for Dell and the those within his employ with which you have personal relationships.

Ownership and Loomis will be a problem, but to say that no one can do better than Dell/Gentry is ridiculous. At some point you will realize your views have been obscured by your connection to Dell.
