To be fair, it's a pretty big broke dick.

What does Smith bring to the table that Stiemsma and Withey don't?

This shows June 30, 2013 as the on-or-before day.

I am going off of that and stuff I saw echoing that. It could all be from the same source and could all be wrong, but that is the basis for my claim.

Note, the page isn't updated. Perhaps Spotrac is behind in its updates too?

Ridiculous hustle, bitch slaps to Blake Griffen, and copious sloots.

In any event it seems Miami is freeing up room by amnestying Mike Miller. Unless New Orleans can overpay I'd be surprised if he passed up a chance to go to the Heat.

Going to the Heat is a copout. He can come here and rebuild his career and not lean on someone to help him along for the ride.

I don't understand this. They'll never get under the cap they way they are going and they already had the taxpayer MLE. This all seems to not affect the Oden signing AT ALL cap wise, just owner's-wallet-wise.

So how much will Arison pay for Oden? 2 or 3x his contract? I mean the guy is super rich, but rich people stay rich because they are smart with money.

I won't be totally clear until the end of season, as mid-season transactions affect the amount taxed, and the progressive tax rate are affected by the amount over the tax line the team is.

As it stands now, 2.5x after the Miller Amnesty since they sit about $10m over the tax line. It may be less if he is straddling a rate boundary, it may go up if they sign more people, and it may decrease if they trade someone for a lower salary player.

As far as I know, they have the entire taxpayer MLE to use, which is almost $3.2m, so they have to pay him that plus the tax of $8mish, so $11.2mish for one year to `max him out.'

Heat didn't do that to get oden. They did it so they can move out of the third tier of the lux tax. Pat Riley and the rest of the front office is terrified of the mega lux tax

If oden wants to be low profile, like people are saying, he needs to go here or san Antonio. We arent even a blip on the nba's radar. And despite being incredible, the spurs are the same way

42, why do people assume just because the heat are the best in the league that they are the "front runners" honestly, it doesn't sound like they really care to me. Nor should they really, they don't have time for a project. We do. Oden just wants to give the NBA a try again.

I wish I wouldn't get my hopes up so much. But, I am. I've been a huge oden fan for a long time. Just to know we could get him for peanuts and have a chance to watch him come back as a pelican is amazing

He fits the profile of players the team wants . . . young, potentially undervalued, looking to prove themselves.

He's also a side of beef.

no doubt.

...11, 8.5, and 2.3 blocks in 23.9 minutes last time he was playin. 61% FG, 77% FT

23 PER

We just need a shell of that...really hope the Pels make this happen.
