Pelicans Talk : Free Agency 2015/2016 - Who do we target?

Obviously we are just going to be gaining great experience from this postseason trip against the #1 team in the West, but what can the Pels do in the offseason to make them better? I don't believe they target anyone in the draft because they want young vets to mesh with AD and make a run in NOLA before he gets to his contract year. What will make this happen? I love possibly being able to go after Jimmy Butler, I think he would fit in perfectly.

Too much is unknown at this time. There will be some seemingly crazy deals made because the cap will jump 40% in 2016. How many guys are going to press for 1 year deals and how will that hold up the market? Will teams be eager to sign 1 year rental deals giving them cap space in 2016, or will they be reluctant because it's a 1 year rental? Does a guy like Luol Deng opt out and add another big money SF to the market pushing someone into MLE territory that wouldn't have otherwise been available to us?
I think the biggest things are who is available with the MLE, and what are our expectations for Anderson becoming himself again? With the Jrue situation I think it'd be premature to move any of our guards.
If you could give me DeMarre Carroll for the MLE and bring everyone back but Jimmer, I'd call that a pretty successful offseason.

I think RYNO will have a comeback season next year similar to Eric Gordon this year. A healthy offseason should go a long way.

I don't like that we rented Asik for a draft pick if we don't resign him. But there are a lot of good FA centers this year. Hopefully that will drive down the costs. I'd like to pick up somebody like Nikola Vucevic.

I could see a deal with Ryno for some depth. I think they would move away from a stretch 4 to a "rugged" low post backup 4 in order to be able to play AD more at the 5 for matchup purposes.
I think they will go after Demarre Carroll or Jae Crowder. Possibly Mike Dunleavy?
They will resign Asik for the right price. I think the market will be down on OA with all of the Centers available out there, and he hasn't really had the best year.
And as TigerinATL said, this will be a very interesting offseason. LOTS of 1 year deals for players who want to get into the feeding frenzy in 2016.

The numbers in that thread are from before the TV deal happened, so AD would be putting even more money at risk by not signing the extension.

FYI there is a thread today on RealGM with people talking about Khris Middleton, and most people seem to agree that he will get the Max thrown at him.
