Undrafted free-agent guard Bryce Dejean-Jones has reached agreement with the New Orleans Pelicans on a multi-year contract, league sources told RealGM. Dejean-Jones went unselected in June’s NBA draft out of Iowa State, where he averaged 10.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 33 games as a senior. The 22-year-old had standout runs at Iowa State and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, including a degree from UNLV.

Scott Kushner ?@ScottDKushner 1m1 minute ago I'm still trying to sort out the details of DeJean-Jones' 3-yr deal w/ #Pelicans I'm told it would include part of NO's mid level exception.

So we've used part of the MLE on both Gee and BDJ? Maybe it's a moot point because there's nothing else that we could have spent it on, but was that even necessary to sign these two guys? Wonder if dipping into the MLE for BDJ has any effect on our offer to Terry.

I believe Jason Terry holds an offer from both Houston and us. But who knows with Norris Cole. I know he's drawing heavy interest from the Lakers and Rockets as of today but it's too cloudy to make a good enough call.

Shouldn't this guy be a minimum contract/ camp body guy?

What am I missing here.

At this point, no one is offering him more than what his QO is. Until the Pels revoke his QO (or has that deadline passed?), he's ours.

I think because it's a partial guarantee we are dipping into the little that we have left on the MLE used on Gee and DC.

For Cole we own his Bird Rights so this has no effect on him and for Terry we'd probably use the BAE so again no effect. Most likely a camp body that could be our 15th guy and will spend most, if not all, the season in the D-League

Bryce D jones is an older rookie, spent 4 years in college, has good athleticm and is sort of a fiery guy. Watching him in summer league he had some nice games and he had one of the sickest passes I've ever seen in a game. His attitude worried me a bit Bc he got a few technicals for talking trash but honestly we need more of those guys.

I thought that was what we signed Perk for

Oh well, the guy probably won't play anyway. Now its just time to wait for the Peliclown melt

Sources confirm #Pelicans deal w/ #IowaSt's Bryce DeJean-Jones is not guaranteed at all. It is a camp invite, but is a three-year contract.

If Cole isn't signed by the end of the month honestly I would just move on, same with Terry. Either you wanna be here or you don't.

Yeah, Kushner's tweet about the MLE makes no sense. I'm not saying he's wrong, but my first thought when I saw multi-year deal for camp body was Patric Young got a "multi-year" deal as well, which Kushner later confirmed. There's no reason to dip into the MLE for a minimum deal which is what this seems like it should be.

Be here for what? Everyone's working out on their own right now for the most part. As long as he comes into camp in shape it will all be water under the bridge. If he's still holding out once camp starts then you do have a problem and he's the one in the wrong because he should be smart enough to know he has no leverage. But lets not jump off that bridge until we get to it.

I get what your saying but we are building a contender here so every single move matters. Im sure Terry and Cole would wanna come play with AD but I'm to the point where I believe players(aging vets) will eventually start to take less money to play with AD. I know it's not a huge deal and it will def be water under the bridge like you said but this team needs guys who really wanna be here.

The vet min exception can only be up to two years. We signed BDJ for 3 years. Maybe they just wanted the extra year of control in the event that he ended up being good.

Sorry, mixing up NBA/NFL terminology. It's simply the "minimum player salary exception." Regardless, I think using the MLE allowed us to add an additional season to the contract.

Good camp invite

I was actually really impressed with his shooting ability and efficiency.

Really good size at the 2 and can play a bit of the 3.

SL Highlights

SL Highlights 2

Has some maturity issues but he's in a good situation and there's talent there.
