It looks like all of the twitter chatter comes from making too much of an off handed comment from John Reid.

quote:

Before the injury, sources say the Pelicans were exploring trade offers for Gordon. There is still a chance the Pelicans could look to trade Gordon before the Feb. 18 deadline if they can find a willing team. Gordon was the only Pelicans' player to start 40 of the first 41 games before getting injured.

February 18th would be 30 days from his injury, which is a 4 - 6 week recovery, so it's not a stretch.

I'm not saying it's a stretch, just that Reid is connecting dots and putting out a supposition. The way "news" works today an innocent supposition all of a sudden becomes a rumor from a seemingly more authoritative source.

I would love to trade him if we can find a taker. I do not see us making an effort to re-sign Gordon.

and honestly, we should not at the cost of player salaries with the new salary cap.

I like EG, I think he gets a lot of hate from his original remarks, but he's been a team player for the last few years and one of the most active active with charities, meet and greets, etc on the team.

Unfortunately, those knee injuries robbed him of his athleticism resulting in him being a good-great shooter and arguably nothing more than that.

I have met him a few times and he has been nothing but pleasant. I have no hate towards him.

As far as the cap next year, it is somewhat overrated. It may be more valuable to use some of that space in a trade for an established player at a reasonable salary than to simply overpay average or below average players because of the cap space available to all teams.

That was really cool when he came out to Tracey's to watch the game with fans last season (or maybe the one before) when he was hurt. But whatever's best for the team.
