Thomas' defense is your primary weakness, but that's a super team.

To say the least.
Sign a ring chasing defensive PG as a backup.

Supposedly the Knicks' "listening" to trade offers for KP was just bullshite nonsense by a terribly run team intended to send a message to him after the skipped exit interview...etc.
I also do not think Ainge is looking to completely empty the cupboards. I think he wants to add another star, but keep a stockpile of picks/young talent to manage into the future.

Kings released Afflalo. He was bad last season, but he did shoot 41% from 3. He'd make sense if you've got two of Jrue, Moore, and Hill out there helping to cover up his defense.

Still the best player involved in that infamous 4-way trade with the Magic, Nuggets, Lakers, and Sixers.
How sad is that?
EDIT - forgot about Iggy, who is clearly best, but almost every player involved failed fricking miserably with their new team like Howard and Bynum.

Also, according to Mitch Lawrence the Wolves are going to target Lowry first but Jrue also on radar
Lowry + Butler + KAT = pretty sick team. Wiggins and Dieng would just need to be adequate role players.
I know that we have to do what's best for us no matter what, but trading for Rubio while sending back less $ could help the Wolves get even better.

I've said I think before in other threads and will continue to champion in because I truly believe it makes sense for both teams
Jrue and a future 1st for Ricky Rubio and Shabazz Muhammad
We get the PG that perfectly fits our system and doesn't hamper us past two years if we want to run at Klay or Wall. We get an adequate backup wing in Muhammad who is a decent scorer
Wolves get the PG they desire in Holiday and then still should have room from the Muhammad savings (he's a RFA) to sign his brother Justin. They need shooting especially on that bench. So we give up a first. There are worst things we can get for it.

A sign and trade involving a FA, a RFA, and a pick has literally never happened and would be so hard to do. You gotta make it WAY simpler than this for it to be possible
Posted on 6/23/17 at 9:29 pm to Crewz
Yeah Muhammad being a RFA does it make it difficult so I don't know even know what he could fetch on the open market
I'd take Jrue and 2018 1st for Rubio and Bjelica (budding stretch four)
Still may be complicated but it's less so than the one I previously proposed

I wouldn't have a problem with it if you think that Muhammad is the best that we can get from our 1st.
But if Minnesota is struggling to deal Rubio and they want Jrue, then I think the outright S&T makes the most sense. Can't the trade exception (in that case, probably in the ~$10m range) be combined with a pick? If so, I think we can do better than Shabazz.

Rondo could be a decent bargain replacement for Holiday if he is willing to accept his place.
Being on a team full of former Kentucky guys like Boogie may help with that, though it means we need offensive production at the 2 and 3 to compensate for Rondo's subpar offense.

I get how Jrue fits, but Jrue was just part of a list of the top gettable FA PGs, Holiday, Hill, Teague. If Holiday costs $25+ and you have to overpay his brother while Teague can be had for $18 and you can get whatever other reasonably priced backup wing you can find, do you really go after the Holidays? I think the same logic applies to the Pels and I kind of think we need a team to save us from ourselves, I just hope that team isn't Minnesota.

Frankly I think teams like Dallas getting their point of the future through the draft helps lower the ceiling on what Holiday gets.
There only needs to be one team stupid enough to offer him a huge deal but this takes out some potential stupid teams.

We are going to trade our 1st again? Is that even legal? We can't trade it, I think all we can do is swap it. But we have to have a 1st next year..

I could live with $25 for both
holidays not gonna sign for less than 20 and his brother fills a need
just for gods sake not 5 years on jrue

Draft's over, so we can now trade our 2018 or 2019 first if we want.
Doesn't make it a good plan considering how many we have traded since getting Davis.

Unless Jrue takes a solid paycut, I think Jrue/Justin are going to have to give up on the dream of playing together. Unless we split our MLE amongst a few players, we can do better with the full MLE than Justin.
As for Minnesota: I'm not even sure that Jrue is their top choice. Zach Harper (who may not have legit connections) gave a list of guards that he "knows" the Wolves will go after. It was 6 or 7 players deep, and Jrue wasn't on the list. Again, he's not known for having connections, but he is a fairly big name journalist that is a fan of the team, so he may know something. If Minnesota and Dallas don't go hard after Jrue, I think that he could come shockingly cheap. We're used to bad luck on this team, but I think a 4/$80m deal for Jrue is possible.
Re-sign DC at ~$6m/yr, use the full MLE on a 2/3, and I think we're in pretty good shape next season.
