He's not totally wrong. You like pointing out OKC and the Spurs as models. Well OKC fired the coach in Durant's 2nd season. If Popovich hadn't turned around the Spurs in Duncan's 1st year, he would have had to run back to the front office and hire a new coach (or been fired as GM as well).
I don't think Monty or Demps jobs are in danger, but people give them way too much credit so far. Neither one has done anything yet, other than get lucky in the lottery and be competitive at times. There is still a ton of work to be done and they need to get it done soon..

I still think Demps needs a senior advisor and like I said, Monty needs to find his Tex Winter. But this team's window really won't start until maybe the year before AD becomes an RFA. The timing of all the contracts, both coaches and star players, means that it will be easy to swap parts or start over when Davis is ready to really be dominant.

As much as I love both of them, it's not that far off

A bean counter/contract guy. He's not useless to Demps but I'd like to see someone who's been around the block enough to have insight on dealing with specific players/agents/GMs/Owners. Stuff Loomis couldn't begin to advise on.

That's two more seasons away. That can't be a realistic window. They need to be in the playoffs next season. I can take a step back for a season and maybe two. But 3 seasons of sub .500 ball will kill the franchise. Fan support is already not that great. Another losing season (after this one) and they will have to clean house. There is no doubt. How they finish this season, will set the tone, but the honeymoon is over..

Demps landed the hornets the current best player on the team.
He's also done a few other pretty good minor trades that are working well. i'm sure he has a vision, and this EG thing is holding it up. if EG turns out to completely bust and not play, then sure it's a different story.
As for Monty, that team last year should not have been in anywhere near as many games as it was...he's going a great job with what he has. this year has been rough, but he's done well his first few years.

i agree. i think he's a good coach, and his job isn't in jeopardy yet.
i like him, but people act like he is Poppovich untouchable.
...has to be the most loved 72-100 coach of all time

Ryan Anderson? Not sarcasm, just wondering who you are talking about...

I'm not trying to put down Demps. But he has made some mistakes as well. Here is his total record as a GM (LINK ). I'll let you decide how great it is. But I'm sure he would like a couple of those back.

What's realistic all depends on what happens with Eric Gordon's salary slot. Either he'll get healthy, get flipped for something useful, or he'll get Demps fired.

The window I was referring to was the contention window, not the make the playoffs window. If in 2 more seasons you aren't starting to knock on the door you need to clean house. That's the way the contracts are set up.

John Brady. We need his eye candy wife on the court

i think all GMs make mistakes. Dell is young. He's only going to get more savvy.
i was going to break down the trades/acquisitions, but it would take too long. but just reading them over, there are far more excellent to neutral trades than bad trades.
