It's almost frightening how similar their draft grades/outlooks are. Both 6'6" sharp-shooters. Stauskas actually shot 46% from 3 in college compared to 39% for Klay.

His developmental arc is already on the Klay Thompson path.

It's the kind of potential asset (plus a big like Thompson) we could hope to land in a Ryno deal.

Yep.

And I do agree he's missing too many open shots. Oleh and McNamara both had good pieces on Anderson this AM.

I just don't think Anderson alone is the problem. The team defense is decent at home and disappears on the road. Anderson plays the same minutes at home and on the road. What gives?

Could be youth, lack of reps/trust, talent, b ball IQ, scheme, bad groupies, etc. No idea what, but there is a deeper issue than Anderson is missing more shots on the road.

Anderson is to slow to play 3 and to short/not strong enough to play 4

Lou Amudson and Lance Thomas had good games against him

He isn't too short to play the 4. The problems are: he isn't strong, has shortish arms, low vertical, and not a quick jumper.

Rumors are Kings are looking for a stretch 4 too

And if you deal anderson to a contender, he's not going to be expected to carry a team like he is here. His contract is good, too. You aren't selling low especially if you're comparing his past per 36

Part of the problem is, if Dell is a dead man walking, do we want him making any major deals? Do we bring in a "consultant" that is the likely next GM?

But yeah, Stauskas/Thompson intrigues me a bit.

I just went to Basketball reference though. Stauskas is shooting 27% from 3. WTF

Yea. Meant to include that in OP.

Kings are being clear in that they want a stretch 4 or a rim-protector to pair with Cousins. There's not many stretch 4s out there better than Ryno.

Stauskas is 19 or 20 getting sporadic minutes though. Everyone questioned why the Kings drafted him when they took McLemore the year before

He's no sure thing but a lot of teams were drooling for him to fall in the draft

Yah I never suggested that Ryan Anderson play the 3. I'm saying his defensive shortcomings can be plugged up by strong D at the rim.

If he was shooting a better percentage this year this wouldn't even be an issue, there are lots of guys that can't play defense in the NBA but if they can score, they're fine.

Well the draft is one thing, but once you get into the game as a rookie, sporadic minutes or not, you've got to knock down some shots. 27% for a supposed great 3 point shooter is bad.

Klay shot 41% from 3 his first year. He played more, but still.

He has a better +/- than Asik. He has a better net rating than Asik.

He has a better +/- and net rating with Davis, Evans, and Holiday than Asik does.

I have a feeling that besides a minor deal like Withey and a 2nd for a back up PG, we won't be making too many deals for this season. Reason being, is I think we'll see a new regime this offseason, with either Monty leaving, or both Monty and Dell. I can see the higher ups not wanting to mess with what we have too much while on the last leg of this regime. Then again, if a good opportunity presents itself, I don't see them passing it up.

Stop calling that a-hole "Ryno". He is no longer worthy of his nickname of endearment.
