Yeah. If Evans is really out, I don't see how they can be serious about Galloway/Moore as initiators of offense. They are more wings than creators (I wonder what, if anything, these moves say about Pondexter's health/expectations).

Maybe they think Hill can create some for them on the wing (???) or that Davis will make a leap in that area (more reasonable IMO). But I don't see how Frazier doesn't get 15-20MPG, if Evans is out. He is the only "true" pg on the roster. I imagine we'll see Moore/Holiday at the 3 in some stretches/mathcups.

Here's a Knicks blogger on Galloway via TBW.

quote:

I think the Knicks came to prefer him off the ball, though that depended (and will depend) on his three-point shooting, which has come and gone. He started last season super hot, then cooled off considerably, so it's unclear how consistently useful he'll be spreading the floor. He definitely seems closer to that kind of role than he does to handling the ball a lot in pick-and-rolls and such.

...Let's say Galloway comes off the bench for New Orleans this year, is he running point primarily or playing off the ball?

Same deal as 3. No matter his minutes, I think Galloway will do more for your team right now as a secondary slasher/shooter than he will as the guy handling the ball most of the time. He can certainly guard both positions, though.

I think there will be a lot more 3 guard lineups than what most people are projecting. No reason why Frazier-Galloway-Moore units won't be out there against other 2nd units. Moore can guard most, if not all, backup SFs

Yeah, no. Hill will start. And Evans won't be ready to start the season.

Evans will not play another meaningful minute for this franchise ever again. People need to take him out of their rotations and projections. Either he never plays for them again, period. Or he plays in a couple of games in December and Jan to show teams he is okay. That's it. Only two possibilities

Will never play a meaningful full minute again

:(

Reke was one of my favorite players. Sad thing to hear. Oh well, onward and upward!

I'll believe it when i see it. Not to say you're wrong, but i find it hard to believe he isn't going to play, unless he's retiring b/c of injuries.
If at any point in the year he is healthy to play, he will play. Regardless of how some of you feel about him as a player, he's still a very good NBA player, who's in the prime ages of his career, and the best player on the team that can create his own shot.

I agree if he's healthy they have no choice but to play him. At times he can play like the best player on the court. MM has always disliked him and both BSs and TBW have been pushing this agenda all year. Looking at our roster now no one out side of Jrue can intimate offense or is a true ball handler.

He is a guard, not a SF. We have 5 guards on the roster in Holiday/Frazier/Galloway/Moore/Hield. And that's not counting QPon who if healthy I could see starting at SG. Maybe the return on trading Tyreke is bad enough that if he is healthy they keep him and find a way to work him into the rotation when he comes back, but they drafted/signed 4 guards this offseason. It seems like the team is moving on.

We have 5 guards and yet he is better than all of them. Like someone said before all these guard are more of insurance. Reke, Q, and Jrue have all missed significant time and Yield is a rookie who doesn't look ready.

I have no problem playing Tyreke, I thought he was going to flourish in a system where the floor was spread out. A Tyreke/AD P&R with 3 shooters should be pretty effective. But that's not how Gentry wants to play.

Houston's about to go through the same thing with Harden and D'Antoni. Harden's scoring has made Houston a top 10 offense, and now D'Antoni wants him to "give it up to get it back" and average 5-6 more assists per game which seems like it'd mean taking 5-8 fewer shots? I'm not trying to attract the rocketards, just pointing out that D'Antoni wants the All NBA version of Tyreke to play differently. The way Tyreke plays is not the way Gentry wants him to play. He doesn't fit the scheme, they seem to want to move on.

Brett Dawson and Scott Kushner released a pretty telling podcast today. Tyreke apparently doesn't want to come off the bench, and only wants to play point guard. And the Pelicans are having trouble moving him because some teams think Tyreke will never play in the NBA again

I honestly thought this was common knowledge?

His pumpers will point to his words right when we acquired him but he has since made it known he doesnt like the SF position and wants to play PG and him and monty had some notable issues because of him being on the bench. Issues he made public more then once.

Problem is Evans is not capable of guarding better PG's in the league and he is not a great facilitator and also prefers playing a more iso, slow-paced type of ball.

He is a guy that I feel like his own hard-headedness has ruined his chances of ever reaching his ceiling.

If i was him i'd feel the same way, especially in a contract year.
He's been in the year for what, 8 years. His two best years were when he played PG. It's not a secret, they guy is a PG, and he's a pretty good one b/c of his size. His one on one defense is better than you'd think as well. His shot started falling more the last two years and he can get to the goal on anyone.

He is the reason we made the playoffs two years ago, and that was as the PG.

He might not be a great PG in every system, but there are systems out there that he can thrive in and be successful.

And if this is true, that sucks royally for him.

Yeah I remember when Tyreke Evans hit that game winning shot against OKC and then went off on the Spurs in the final game of the season to get a playoff spot. Following a season where he had historical great advanced statistics.

..Oh wait, that was this other guy on the team. what was his name again?.. Oh yeah! Anthony Davis. Forgot about him.
