Just watching this game, I miss the good old days so much. CP3, DWest, Chandler and the others.....

I was saddest to see west go. He won me forver with dirk slap.
He didnt cry about wanting out. Played his contract out and never was a distraction.
His acl tear but a damper on his last season. That team was a roller coaster for sure

"But he is injured and done for so let's not try to sign him to lead our younger players"

*drafts Austin Rivers and give Eric Gordon a max contract*

Captain West goes on to lead Indiana into the playoffs both years after.

We werent younghis fa year.

Rivers hadnt played year of college ball yet and we had no idea how good or bad we would be to even be near drafting him.

West signed with indiana on dec 11.
Paul was still here and ster vetoed houston trade. No one jnew if paul deal was even going to happen so gordon max wasnt even a thought yet.

None of those statements are in correct time frame

I love West and have been a fan since his Xavier days (he was one of those guys that seemed like he was in college for 7 years).

In fairness and to prevent revisionist history, people here bitched about David West constantly in game threads his last few years. I can remember the majority of posters being happy to see him go. I also remember numerous posters calling him overpaid even though he had one of the most team friendly contracts in the NBA as a Hornet. The most consistent complaint is that he was lazy, even though David West's work ethic has been highly regarded since he has come into the league.

I've been happy to watch him thrive for Indiana now that he is recovered from the ACL. He is going to get paid again this summer.

I like how you think that Demps just straight up told West not to come back. I'm sure David West himself had no role at all in leaving here to win in Indiana rather than stay and babysit a rebuild.
