While I thought he earned another 1/2 season, I 100% understand making the change now. In fact after the initial shock, my reaction was lets do it and hire a great coach.

That said, thanks Monty for your time here and the way you connected with and mentored the players, especially Davis and Anderson after his girlfriend's death. I wish you the best in the future.

Hope Monty lands on his feet, seriously. Seems like a good guy. I don't hate him even if I didn't want him to be our head coach.

Some of the people on here are ruthless, with a 'good riddance' type attitude. I thought he'd get another year, but management chose to go in a different direction. Wish nothing but the best for the guy.

Exactly this, he was a better man than he was a coach. Also people who really follow the team understand what he did for guys like Davis, Anderson, and Gordon off the court.

I appreciated his eye for fashion. Who else could pull off a plaid yellow trench coat with grey pants?

I think Monty was exactly what we needed for AD. Some people hated how he protected AD in the 4th his rookie season, but can anyone really complain about AD's current trajectory? He's way ahead of schedule by every possible measure, and while I know some don't want to give Monty any credit for that, I think AD would disagree with you. Monty made AD take on more of a leadership role starting with Summer League year 2. While I would like to see more development in his post game, I also generally agree with the direction they've taken his game, rebuilding the mechanics of his jumper and trying to expand his dribble drive game.

By more than one account from Pels posters, he supposedly is/was a huge dick to his neighbors and fans in the Old Metairie community.

This sort of maturity will not go unpunished on Pelicans Talk.

Should I let you know how I feel about the "Old Metairie community"?

People see what they want to when they don't like the coach.
