Stars don't get traded for equal value. I'm saying Gasol, Cousins, CP3 and many others got traded for scraps. And when you're the pacers and you see Paul George is gonna walk to the lakers for free in a year, why not try to get something out of it? Is this really something that outrageous that you have to throw in that snide lebron comment?

For me it is the typical agents smoke screen. To send Dell the information...

And only thing that terrifies me us that Dell might bite the bullet...

Why do people think Wes Matthews is still good?

He may no longer be good, but he's also not bad and is better than any guard we have now besides Holiday. If he were on a 4 year deal at $18 per I wouldn't be interested, but he's on a 2 year deal with the 2nd year being a player option he could opt out of. Considering the available options he's a good stop gap solution, especially if the cost is Omer Asik.

Yeah, it's just about trading Asik's useless dollars for somewhat useful dollars. That's about it.

Stop gap with what in mind for the future? At what point do we stop having to have stop gaps? This is getting so ridiculous that we cannot build any traction year to year

Yea If it means getting rod of Osik sure. But Matthews has not been good since his Achilles and I was mainly talking about people in this thread acting like he'd be a coup for us.

so you'd rather have Asik for 3 more years doing nothing, or Matthews for 2 more years?
He's not what he used to be, but he's still a good player. Not like we are asking him to be our #1, or #2, or even #3 guy.

I'm ready to trade for Bledsoe and build off a core of Bledsoe/AD/DC. You're not getting a star player until you become good enough that they want to play for you and only you. Focus on being good while not adding any unmovable contracts like Holiday on a max deal, and the rest will work itself out.

Matthews has had a better real +/- than Avery Bradley the last 2 years. People assume we'd have to give up the moon to get him.
Matthews has also played in 78 and 73 games the last two years, almost 20 more than Jrue has last two years, and he shoots 38% from 3 and averages 14ppg for his career, both better than Jrue.
Yes it would be a coup for us to get him for 2 years while getting rid of the worst signing we've ever made in Asik. Klay Thompson becomes a free agent in 2 years.

Not to mention, Matthews brings solid defense on the wing and is a great locker room presence. He's another guy that would help keep Boogie in check. He checks a lot of boxes and, as mentioned, his contract his palatable for the short term. Gives the opportunity for Wall or Klay or Jimmy in 2 years.

Bledsoe/Matthews/Hill/AD/DC

Would be a pretty interesting starting unit.

Bledsoe can't really shoot that well from 3. Matthews is better not amazing or anything.

I wish we could find a top end 3 point shooter to have a more versatile starting and bench rotation. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Once again, why didn't the team trade Holiday before the deadlibe or extend him? At least they traded Evans for something. But this team just keeps letting guys walk and get nothing in return. If they can't agree on a contract, get something in return. This becomes even bigger with Cousins pending..

You make it sound like we traded him because he was leaving in FA. We traded him to make salaries work to get DeMarcus Freaking Cousins.

Hindsight is 20/20. Yeah we could've traded Holiday for 20 cents on the dollar but there was still a possibility of him coming back next year. Especially with the hope that came with getting DMC. Plus everyone felt we had a legit shot at the playoffs around the trade deadline because of the DMC trade.

So why would we trade our starting PG for peanuts while we were trying to make the playoffs?

Dude Matthews went from a 44fg 38 3pt before his injury to 38%fg 36 3pt after. A clear and concise decline. He is a borderline bum at this point

Better than Avery Bradley hahaha

yeah. that is odd. especially if you're swapping Holiday out for Matthews.

i'm not a huge Holiday fan, but 2017 Wes Matthews or Solomon Hill or E'Twaun Moore as your 3rd best player is not taking you very far
