It sure sounds like we did. However, it's possible we never had to renounce our Bi Annual Exception.

This guy has been a bum for several years now. If we just used the RLE on him...ouch.

Demps hates the small forward position

Still can shoot the corner 3:
I doubt we used our exception.
I think the NBA does some weird cap math when it comes to veterans on small-money deals to encourage teams to keep vets around instead of just cutting them for guys on the rookie minimum.
Salmons' minimum would be at least $1.4m as a 10+ year vet, based on an old chart, so this isn't much over the minimum for him.

$2 million is an odd number. Why leave $700k on the table from the RLE. You can't do anything with that that you can't do with a minimum deal and you make Salmons a less useful trade chip later. Part of why we paid Stiemsmsa so much in theory was for future trade value. I'm guessing we managed to save the BAE, or it's veteran minimum math like teke is suggesting.

Not much of a difference b/t him and Richard Jefferson at this point IMO.
Richard Jefferson actually had a very sneaky good season last year. 40% from 3.

Jefferson has hit 40% of his 3's over the last 3 years

Change the title of this thread to Pelicans catch Salmons lulz

I don't like this signing, Les.

not even close. More like Rashad Lewis accept Lewis never played for us.
maybe this is part of a bigger plan?

Yep, thought it was a pretty good signing for Dallas.

Yeah Salmons is pretty bad.
I am hoping against hope this is just a depth type of deal and Dell has another move ahead of him.

Why not just sign Josh Howard for the minimum instead of paying Salmons $2m
Posted on 7/14/14 at 2:56 pm to Lester Earl
Salmons shot 38% the last 3 years, not a huge difference b/t 38% & 40%.

Yeah, not liking this deal, but I will wait to see how the rost of the roster shapes out.

The league minimum for a player w/ Salmons' # of years in the NBA is $1,448,490, meaning his salary is $551,510 too high.
what's this mean??
