Jason Terry drawing interest? It was widely assumed that Terry would be back with the Bucks for one more season, but it still hasn't happened because they are currently pursuing Derrick Rose. While the report doesn't name a specific team, Woelfel said one of them is Western Conference playoff-caliber team. Terry will be 40 in September, so he'll be looking at a minor role almost anywhere he lands

Roto

Thoughts?

We offered him a contract a couple years ago so it is plausible we reached out to him again.

I haven't watched him play in a while. Does he have anything left in the tank?

That makes a lot of sense if they can't find any trades they like. MM says he's expecting a QPon dump for cash considerations soon to resign Cunningham. That not only gets you further away from the tax, it frees up a roster spot. Pay Rondo a little under $4, Dante about $4.5 and you have enough to add Terry on the minimum and stay just under the tax.

just looking at his stats:
bench player for milwaukee last year
~18 MPG
negative BPM (offense and defense), but had a 0.3 VORP

team was better offensively (+0.7 rating) AND defensively (-6.1) with him on the court

Not sure how I would feel about it. How many minute per game would he be good for?

am I the only eternal optimist that believes QPon can give us some good minutes this season?

So if the plan is to dump Qpon and resign Dante, and someone like Terry this is the team going forward:

Rondo/Cook/Jackson
Jrue/Moore/Crawford/Terry
Solo/Miller
AD/Diallo/Dante
Cousins/Ajinca/Asik

That's 15, without Toupane. So if they want someone else like Terry, they'd have to cut Toupane, which isn't a big deal since it's not guaranteed money and he didn't look all that great in the summer league anyway.
I'd imagine Jackson would be in the G-League, Asik never dress out, and when AD/Cousins/Diallo/Dante are healthy, Ajinca is the next guy not dressing out, which would mean Diallo is the backup 5?
We can't go into the season without a backup 5, unless Cook is going to spend sometime in the G-League while Ajinca is the backup 5 until they get him traded, but even then, if they don't get a back up 5 back in return, you're back to Diallo being the only other big on the team.
I'd like Terry, but we need a backup 5 more than a minimum vet guy at the 2. I'd prefer that minimum vet guy be a 5,

Why not? The small ball Pels that didn't have Cousins and weren't playing Asik and Ajinca were really starting to gel before the trade. I'm convinced they make the playoffs if no trade happens.

I am optimistic about that too

But I'm probably dumb for it

I like the small ball lineups too, and i like it more where you can just about always have one of AD or Cousins out there. But that will still leave a good 6-10 minutes a game where they both sit. You can't have Diallo out there at the 5. Our small ball lineups were working when we started hitting 3's. We weren't doing that to start the season, which is why we were so terrible. We don't have Hield and Galloway anymore, which were the keys to the small ball lineups, and we did nothing to replace them.

What happens in games where AD or Cousins get in foul trouble and that 8-10 minutes becomes 15 minutes? or if one gets hurt? I'm fine with Ajinca being the backup 5, but if he's gone, they have to get another backup big. No one important, just that 8 minute a game guy that isn't completely worthless.

If pels stick with solo/miller at the 3, is it the worst 2 deep depth at any position for any team in the nba going into the regular season?

Ajinca looked decent in March where he was the backup in situations like you're talking about. He averaged 4.3/4.3 in 12 MPG for the month of March. He returned to the form that made his contract not seem horrible when he was initially signed (other than in the context of they resigned Asik too).

I would say so, but if q pon comes back and perform the way he did pre-injury, we'll be in good shape. If he doesn't, I would like to see us trading Asik for Dudley from phx.

Jason terry? Quincy pondexter ? It has to suck to be a new Orleans basketball fan. Glad I live 2 hours from Houston. It's like Maverick level desperation. Sorry guys
