You know better than me, so how could we make the trade work salary wise if Sanders is only making $3 mil this season, but $11 mil a season the next four years? If you add OJ ($8 mil/season) to the trade then next year we are way over the tax, I believe.
1. Sanders' salary is calculated under Base Year Compensation (BYC) for trading purposes.
That is the greater of his old salary or 50% of his new salary. Given his new salary is about $13 million, his BYC value would be about $6m.
$6m plus Mayo's $8m would be an exact match for Gordon's contract.
2. The matching only matters if both teams are over the cap.
Milwaukee's actually under the cap by about $3-4m, so they can accept Gordon without sending out roughly $14m of their own if necessary.

shite, I didn't know Mayo was making 8 mil a year, but this is prob the type of bad deal we may have to take back to move Gordon.

We'd be losing Gordon's $14m to get Sanders' $11m and Mayo's $8m, so it is a net difference of $5m.
We're at $47.6m for next year before Davis and Rivers' team options are picked up. If the cap stays the same, then we're just over the cap and not into the luxury tax yet.

And if that happened, how far over the cap would that put us once Sanders starts his 4 year $44 mil deal?

Take my figures from earlier in the thread, $42 million, add $19 milllion and remove 2 roster holds and you're at $60 million. Add another $5 million for the MLE SF and you're at $66 with rounding. The Tax Threshold this year is $71.7 million and it might go up next year. But you'd have at least $5-$6 more million to play with. Once you replace Roberts and the usual Dleaguer you still can probably only afford one of Smith/Aminu unless they come back cheap, but you'd be under the tax with todays team more or less trading Gordon and Smith/Aminu for Sanders/Mayo/MLE SF

Can Sanders man the center position? I know he's seen as a defensive force, but he's only listed at 235
Yes. Point of reference, Noah is only 230 lbs.
Here is Matt Moore's in depth interview with him from last year.

If this is even remotely possible, it would be a coup for the Pelicans. A young, proven elite rim protector for $11M/year next to Davis? Yes please.

Yep, he's good enough. We don't really live in an era of dominating centers.

Does Jrue's tibia heal by All Star game if we trade Gordon for Sanders??

Nice link, sounds like he could teach AD quite a bit too. I think I'm all in on this, might even be willing to give up a 2016 1st.

Forgive me, because I am ignorant about this stuff, but why not Granger for Gordon? Granger has an expiring that would give us $$ to utilize next year.

I really like the idea. The Gordon on trade block thread on PR has a few nay sayers.

Lance Stephenson stepping up is a big part of why the Pacers are doing so well this year. Indiana needs the cap space to sign Lance Stephenson making taking on Gordon a non starter.

One of Sanders teammates recently blasted him to the media about earning his money. The combination of that with his mediocre numbers this season might mean his doesn't give a shite.

Why not Phoenix again? They have money and draft picks?
He wanted to be there and now he can be. They are shockingly doing good and are in contention so let's give them a player that will help them win in the pla...I almost threw up saying that.
Good luck EG but I think we are stuck with this one.

Milwaukee -- "Hey, Larry Sanders is on the block, let's maximize the value we can get for him and trade him for Eric Gordon!!!"

Isn't he still hurt? I might be wrong. I don't follow the Bucks and forgot they even had a relevant team anymore lol

It's not Sanders for Gordon, it's Sanders and $8 million per year Mayo for Gordon.
