Since acquiring Boogie. This franchise (and PT) was like a graveyard in the weeks prior, and all of a sudden we have fan interest. Then we get shite on by the Rockets and proceed to cut Casspi, and now a lot of us are down in the dumps again.

I feel like I'm cautiously optimistic. None of the mediocre - below average teams we play will be able to handle both AD and Cousins. We should win some games make the playoffs, that's the good part. The bad part is meanwhile this would make Demps and Gentry look like savages. I still don't want either of them, especially Gentry. Really there are worse GM's than Demps but he's not that good either.

TLDR: did we mortgage the future of this organization on a gamble for short term success?

Anybody that went full emo about losing the first game and cutting Omri fricking Casspi should never post again.

Something like demps walked up to the plate after years of fouls.....he points towards the upper deck then jacks a grand slam to the exact spot....

Next time up he swings so hard and misses and there is a shite stain flowing down his leg.....

Wait for it.......

I agree with you I'm optimistic I think we will beat bad teams I just don't know if 24 games will be enough time to gel in order to win enough games to get into the playoffs

Before the trade I was squarely in the tank camp and all signs showed that to be unlikely. If we traded a 1st for Lopez or Okafor I doubt I'd have any hope at all that we could competently build around AD before he wants out.

This team was .500 with AD and Jrue. RPM says they're a 50 win team after the trade. I think all they need to do is become a 50 win team next year and you get AD and Cousins to recommit. That seems a lot more doable than any other plan we had for keeping AD before last week.

The only reason the rest of this season matters is to figure out if they need to fire Gentry to reach 50 wins.

If anyone can frick this up, it's Derps and Uncle Al. That's where the concern for the future comes from.

That being said, things still look good right now.

My outlook on Demps has been the same, still stays the same. He absolutely lucked into cousins and vivek's infatuation with buddy. Every gm would have made the move, but one move that might buy us time does not offset the last 5 years of pooroust decisions

I actually believe Demps has a plan for the offseason to get us to become a 50 win team my problem is I don't think Gentry will be the right coach for the team he is building now. Hopefully with all excitement around the team Benson will pay up for a high caliber coach to get us that point

I still think the organization is poor but they game themselves more room for error because they are now talent rich.

I'll never understand giving 5 mil a year to Ajinca, 11.5 to asik, and 12.5 to hill yet drawing the line at dishing out 7m for a top tier coach from a spending perspective.

As a fan if my choice was an extra 5mil towards player talent or an extra 5mil towards coaching talent I'm going coaching talent EASY.

My outlook is we have hope but need a full offseason to get the roster right. Also Gentry is not the right coach for this team.

It wasn't just the money, it was the power. Thibs, JVG, Cal -- all wanted power too. That was a sticking point, along with the fact that the organization wanted an offensive guy who would have a strong defensive assistant. Not a defensive guy. Pace and excitement sells tickets, gets them on TV, etc.

This was 100% their thinking. Curious to see if it is the same this May/June

Do you have any idea if Demps thinks that Gentry is right coach or do think he wants to get someone else without giving up the personal power

It's not fun to be level-headed though. It's suicide watch or flapping for me.

If you find a guy that is guaranteed to be much better than Gentry, he will want personnel power. There in lies the problem

Why is Demps so petrified of having a coach who helps with personnel decisions? Theoretically, they wouldn't be hiring their own GMs, so why freak out so much? What is wrong with the Jeff Bower role in Detroit? His job is secure. He has less to worry about when it comes to failure. That's all on SVG.
