How do Pelicans top 4 of JH/EG/Brow/Ryno matchup against rest of the West?

Assuming Brow improves his offensive game (should be a given) and EG stays healthy (big If), I defintely feel the Pels are comparable to the everyone other than elite playoff teams...
Pels aren't ready to compete w/ healthy OKC, SA, Memphis and whatever TX teams gets DH, but I feel we match up quite well with the Denver, GS, Clippers (CP3 is great but I just don't see BG and Jordan really making them elite). Lakers w/o Howard wont sniff the playoffs.
If we add a solid SF in FA then I defintely think we are in the hunt for 5/6/7/8 seed with a bright future on horizon. I mean we do have 3 players (and 1 who was the final cut last year that is not trying out this year) at the Team USA minicamp so it does speak to the quality of our roster.

Agree 100%
They should be in the playoff hunt all year long- assuming health- and hopefully grow into a contender a couple of years down the line.
The only team out of Den/GS/LAC that has a core that gives them.a run for their money is GS. Curry/Thompson/Barnes/Bogut (Lee is good, Bogut is more important) is stout, but similar health issues to the Pels

I think we're in the hunt for the 5 seed this upcoming year. Also don't count out Monty doing better in games, I'm sure he will learn more from the other guys there.

We still need to see how ryno fits into this lineup. With him and AD on the court together, does AD move to 5 or 3? Or do we think ryno can actually play the 3? I'm most curious to see how AD develops and if he can actually log good minutes at SF, specifically on defensive end. Ryno can't really defend SFs or PFs

Davis will play the 5 in crunch time.

I think Davis will play 5 on Offense but defend the 4 on defense in crunch time. Ryno will do opposite.
I also think we will see more sets with Lopez, ryno, & Davis against certain teams like Memphis.

Anderson will guard the weaker offensive player of the opposing teams front line.

i don't see us adding 20 more wins to get to that 5 seed in one year, borrowing the addition of someone like Iggy. But the 8 seed could be a possibility.
I just want them to be in more games this year than they were last year. It was embarrassing at times.

Not saying you are wrong, but how many more wins do we have if EGKnee was healthy all year?
Now how many wins does an improved AD add?
Finally, how many wins does Jrue add?
I dunno if we can add 20 more wins, but I do not think it is out of the realm of possibility.

If they don't win 40+ games this season, I will be surprised honestly.

I still think AD will have trouble with big physical centers like Gasol, Howard, etc. So I think it will be more of a matchup thing.

assuming reasonable improvement and health, that core is top 3-5 in the NBA in 3-4 years

Healthy EG and improved Davis with less restrictions shold equal conservatively around 10-12 more wins I wuld imagine. Add JH and just a solid SF in FA & I don't think 20 more Ws is out of the question.

Agreed. Davis could be a elite player but at minimum a perennial all-star. Jh should be at best a perennial all-star and minimum an occasional all-star. Ryno is an occasional all-star who I envision to be a great asset when surrounded with other studs.
Eg is the wildcard. At best could be perennial all-star but worst could be perennial injury could've been.

well EG/Holiday may not improve at all and EG may stay hurt, which would end up de-railing that
also, in that timeframe FA would become an issue

I wouldn't go that far but yes, if Anthony Davis becomes a top 10 player in the league then of course that is a top core.

adding 15 wins is reasonable, depending on who they get a SF. that would put them around .500, which would be about right, IMO.

a lot of the established teams will be done in that timeframe. heat will, at the least, not have a good wade. san antonio will be done. knicks will be done. nets will be done. i don't think the clippers survive this offseason.
so you got like indy, chicago, OKC, maybe houston?

Have to account for 1-2 more "super teams" forming

Jrue will defend this punk cp3 like a god when we play him
