Lowe w/ FA post

Monroe is available, but Milwaukee can't wring anything good for a guy who could bolt in a year -- in part because this free-agency class market is packed with centers. The Pelicans have explored a Monroe-Anthony Davis partnership before, but they are hopeful Omer Asikwill rebound after a dreadful season; they are in no rush to waive him via the stretch provision, allowing them to spread his remaining guaranteed money, sources say. Still: they will watch the market for centers, including Monroe.

And the great Bethlehem Shoals on Warriors legacy

The Warriors Arent A Basketball Revolution

quote:

Instead of prescribing a course of action, the Warriors should put more pressure than ever on coaches and front offices to be astute and creative in the way they do their jobs. Imposing a top-down system on a roster demonstrates a lack of imagination and will invariably fail to get the most out of players, no matter how good they are.

quote:

The Warriors didn’t teach the league anything useful about what to do or how to do it, or even who should do it. Rather, they were an example of how an organization, from top-to-bottom, can view the construction of a team.

If the Bucks would be reasonable with their demands, I would love to see how Monroe would do here.

True, but how many teams just decided to play small or pace/space because the Warriors did it, regardless of fit? How did that work out for them?

Asik for Monroe. Make it so.

So does Evans and Asik for Monroe and Michael Carter Williams start to make sense for both sides?

No one is taking Asik. Maybe if we take an even more useless player from someone, like Pek.

Our best hope is that he is somewhat useful this season and he can be moved next year.

Salaries work, but I think they would want more...maybe a pick

Only because it's really hard to assemble a group of 4-6 6'5-6'8 2 way players. What Golden State did to change the game was have the personnel to disrupt the Pick and Roll like it's never been disrupted before. It's not some flash in the pan, it's a method that works if you have the personnel to pull it off.

They seem to think Monroe should have some value, but as they are finding out, he doesn't. He's an expiring dinosaur. He may be worth cap space to teams, but not hard assets.

I think the one part we don't see is the Monroe and his agent's side. I feel the reason we are linked to Monroe so much is because he isn't happy(relegated to the bench last season) and he is from here and a Pels fan. I saw him numerous times at Hornets game when he was at Georgetown. Doesn't all matter, but I believe they are on our side.

So what do the Bucks do? They have a $17 million expiring big that wants out (my assumption). And I don't think they have a lot of options.

But yes, the Sixers second or something would be needed to have them swallow two extra years of Asik.

I think they would be better with Asik honestly, and I think we would be better with Monroe. But I wouldn't go crazy to make it happen for sure.

If I was the Bucks and my options were letting Monroe walk after this season or taking on Asik, I'd probably just let him play out the season and walk.

Hard to argue and probably why he's still there

Yeah, I know. Very captain obvious of me

I guess I meant more that I couldn't see a real scenario where the Bucks would do any kind of deal where they took back Asik.

Exactly. Which is the point that many teams/fans missed.

No one else should shoot the insane 3s or make the audacious passes or play that type of switching defense just because it worked for GS.

The idea is to build scheme around talent on hand, not the other way. Can point to injuries, but the Pels still haven't quite figured out how to do that with Davis.

If they think that swapping a defensive center for Monroe is a big part of where things went wrong for them, and there's a good bit of evidence suggesting it's a pretty big piece, then they need to replace Monroe with a defensive center. Pachulia/Biyombo/etc will get more money and years than Asik has, and the defensive centers the following year might get even more over paid. All of a sudden Asik isn't looking as terrible in mid July. I'm not saying it happens, but an Asik for Monroe swap kind of makes sense unless you think Asik won't stay healthy.

Lowe w/ his under the radar guys

Lots of names tossed around here already (Hill, Moore, Harkless)

Leuer is an interesting one as an Anderson replacement off the bench.

GS also has 2 of the best shooters in recent memory

They built correctly around those two and also had a lot of luck with injuries last year.

If they did an Asik for Monroe trade, i'd laugh my arse off.

and i don't think those numbers work anyway. Isn't Monroe at like $16M. Asik is still only around $10 i think.
Seems like we'd have to throw in someone like Ajinca, or Reke/Asik for Monroe/MCW
