We could just straight up give him 10 and Hardaway 15 instead of Jrue's 25 is what I was saying. If we did that we'd fill out the roster with min contracts but it could be done.

Except you cannot do that. Jrue counts for $17M against the cap. If you don;t sign Jrue, you don't have $25M to give out. You have $17M to replace him.

Except you don't just have $17M. We've discussed ways to clear cap space ad nauseam lately and a few times in this thread alone. You can get almost 8M just from stretching Asik. Boom. 25. Stop being an arrogant prick.

I thought you meant just not re-signing Jrue. You would rather Mills/Hardaway over Jrue/MLE or Jrue/Mills?

Go read the 4 articles from bourbon street shots. breaks it down very well on the possibilities.
If you don't resign Jrue, nor do a S&T to get the exception and still operate over the cap, you're operating under the cap, so no exceptions, and you have to find a way to get rid of Ajinca/Qpon, which might not be that hard, stretch Asik, and let Jrue walk, then they have around $27M in cap space.
What do you do when Hardaway stays with Atlanta, and you have no shot at any other big names, the few that are even available? Spend money for shits and giggles?
Having cap space is a bit risky b/c you don't know if you can get the very few guys worth a shite that are free agents to come here.

This is my biggest problem with letting Jrue walk. We have to overpay in free agency for guys to come here. It seems naive to think that guys are going to want to sign here for reasonable amount.

Personally I wanted to trade Jrue for Rubio at the deadline, but considering in addition to appeasing AD we now have to convince Boogie to re-up with us, I think we should re-sign Jrue and use the 2018 1st and whatever other assets we can muster to shoot the moon and turn Moore into Eric Bledsoe.

Well Hardaway is restricted, so unless he turns down a large offer sheet to play on his rookie deal I don't think he can 'choose' to stay in Atlanta. Unless Atlanta matches, which I admitted puts you back at square 1.

I would love that.
I wonder how available Bledsoe is. I doubt they would get rid of him and keep Knight. He's much more of a scorer than Jrue. I seriously doubt we would have the assets to get him, but if there's a way, i'm for that more than any other possible trade we've talked about like Fournier or Batum.

Well if they draft a PG in the top 5 then Bledsoe no longer fits their window. And while Bledsoe is better than Eric Gordon, I'd say he's just as injury prone limiting the market for him.

He's gone. PHX just shut him down for the season for knee soreness (tanking). They are going to end up top 3 and draft one of the point guards for the future who is more on the same time horizon as Booker, Bender, Chriss...etc.

Not sure what it would take to get him, but with the health risks, him being 28, and PHX wanting to unload him, I don't think they will get crazy value for him. I also think they have enough young talent, so future picks as opposed to more picks this year may appeal to them to give them more flexibility/options.

Teaming Boogie back up with Bledsoe would all but ensure him re-signing. Also gives you the leverage to try and figure out a S&T with John Wall/Jrue in 2019.
