Looking at the free agency this year, my wishful hopes would be to get Teague and Redick. Both are unrestricted and playing well this season while being cheap contracts. Teague has been racking up assists recently and scoring well. Redick would be nice vet to have that could score for us.

What would be your realistic best choice?

Well we won't have cap space for one of them, much less both, if wr are talking realistic.

After Jrue and some other moves we would be there

I doubt it. But if there was a way to get Teague instead of Jrue, I'm all for it.

We need to cut ties with Asik and that will free up money. Ajinca also should be moved. But who am I to know what to do. Demps still has a job so he knows better than I.

I understand Jrue has been frustrating lately, but people need to understand how the cap works. Asik is unmovable unless we stretch him which will only gives so much cap space. I truly believe it is in our best interest to operate over the cap which means paying Jrue around market value ($20-22m). He's not a max player, we all know this, but the team is in a situation where they'll be in dire straits if they don't re-sign him. Will have zero flexibility to better the roster at that point. If that happens you can probably kiss AD and Boogie goodbye.

I mean, "zero flexibility" is an exaggeration. Part three in my series focused on options if Jrue walks and they aren't terrible. You might take a slight hit next year but you could come out better before AD's deal is up

I would probably still lean towards re-signing Jrue but it's not a no brainer and they aren't in dire straights if he walks

Teague will not be on a cheap deal next season.

I feel like Jrue is a 15 million a year off ball guard trapped in a 25-30 million a year PG scenario.

All along I've been team Jrue and pairing him with a true PG, but I'm falling off the wagon. I see shades of the Omer situation and I'm considering letting his arse walk.

I feel the exact same way.

We're still not contenders yet, we can't keep all of our money tied into three main guys that are barely contending. We have to let him go and find other guys that can contribute efficiently.

Yeah, it really depends on who we can get at PG next to him. I guess if Darren Collision can be good enough and you're paying a combined $30 million for PG/SG and getting about 30/14 from the 2 each night it could be ok. But the way he's playing you really need another guy that can run the offense and get in the lane next to him.

Hell no. Collison is at best a 3rd guard on a good team.

i like Collison, but he's a really good backup PG, not a starter on a good team.

But is Jrue a starter on a good team? How different are the two?

Me--- I go get Lin or Rubio this offseason and ride that out for a year or two and hope to pounce on an upgrade down the line

Look at the list of free agents for 2017, and look at how many tradeable assets we have. FA is very very thin, miss on top guys and we'll end up with AD, Boogie, an overpaid fringe starter and vet mins. How is that better?

I think he is, if he isn't the guy asked to do all the scoring from your 1-2-3 position.
He's still a very good shooter, and is capable of having nights where he takes over. and he's still a great defender.

I wouldn't complain about that.

That is exactly what many were saying before we resigned Asik's dumbass. exactly, and most convinced themselves that he had to be resigned b/c of it, and look where that got us. Now Jrue is obviously not anywhere near what Asik is, but it's the same principle.

I'm not convinced we would have to give up a 1st round pick for Rubio. I can see Minny just wanting to dump him.
