Oleh over at TBW digs into Jackson's combine numbers and college stats and compares him to other players.
There's a lot more at the LINK including charts and numbers. Jackson probably won't contribute much this year, but it wouldn't be crazy for him to be the 3rd guard in another year or 2.

Sounds like Frank Jackson is probably a better prospect than the guy we drafted 6th last year and we used him to trade for Demarcus. Does this mean we can possibly use Frank Jackson to help facilitate a trade for Kyrie?

If one of Diallo/Jackson works out in the long run then Demps did a good job. Hopefully both players notice and appreciate the opportunity the Pelicans organization gave them and decide to stick around after their contracts are up.
I'm a firm believer that Diallo will be an Ibaka in this league in 3 more seasons. He really needs some solid minutes. As for Jackson had he not gone to Duke like LSU or something he would have gotten a lot more attention.

Yeah 1 for 2 on our last two second round picks is nothing to complain about. I'm actually optimistic both will end up being contributors sometime down the road. However, I'm not getting my hopes up

Both can end up being solid contributors, it'll just take time. They were both supposed to be 1st round picks, and both came out earlier than they should've. Jackson turned 19 in May, he is young as hell.

For his athleticism and pretty decent college production, why didn't he go higher?

Efficient production maybe, but he only averaged 10.9 ppg with 1.7 assists to 1.4 turnovers. Also remember that this draft was pretty loaded at guard. In another year he probably would have slipped into the 1st.

Duke also had Tatum, Kennard and Allen, who were the first 3 scoring option.

he didn't go higher because 30 something other teams decided there was a better player to take ahead of him. I hope he turns out to be good but I really don't get the point of hyping him now

I don't think it's hype as much as a dead offseason. Oleh researched some stuff and the results were kind of exciting. But it shouldn't really give much hope for this season. MM was trying to discourage the Diallo hype on twitter because good playoff teams very rarely have a young guy recently drafted in the 2nd round get minutes. If a successful season means Diallo shouldn't play much this year that means Jackson shouldn't expect play much even next year.

I'd argue diallo will contribute, more so than ajinca.

I think you are going to be disappointed in how much ajinca plays over diallo

Ajinca seemed to play much better when relegated to his normal role of 10-15 bench minutes every other game vs. earlier in the season when they showcased him as a starter in 11 straight games and told him don't foul even if it means not defending.

Is he a finisher like LaVine? I knew the guy was supposed to be a good athlete, but LaVine is like freakish athletically. Plus he's 6'5ish, isn't Jackson like 6'2?

He is shorter like you mentioned, but he also won the McDonalds All American Slam Dunk contest. If you look at this highlight clip it's very Morey Ball. He's either knocking down a catch and shoot 3 or getting to the basket for a layup or dunk. He looks like a pretty good finisher and also has multiple dribble moves to get to the basket. LINK

I just love adding young, cheap talent that might surprise. I have been so let down with all our misses or never was guys the past few years (Pierre Jackson, Patric Young, Russ Smith..). We are kind of due to hit on one eventually..

He's already shown that he is a good finisher after contact. Has great body control and touch around the basket. Whether that translate to the NBA is the question. Unless you are a physical specimen, finishing around the basket is one of the toughest thing to do for a young player in the league. I hope those skills translate for him as we do not have a guy in the backcourt with strong finishing ability. All we have are jump shooters.
