I think Minny stays at 10 at this point but I guess 9 is possible.

I'm much more worried about dropping as low as 5, with Cleveland and Sac dropping like rocks.

I only see 2 more sure-fire wins for us in Char and GS...we need Sac and Cleveland to win 2 more at least to give us some buffer.

Looking at the schedules. I think we end up with the 5th worst record and Minn gets to the 9th worst record.

Maybe Cleaveland pulls an upset, but Sac is probably only winning one more game.

ETA: If Detroit can pull an upset win, Minn may even fall down to 8.

It looks like if we tie it's more like falling to 3.5, not 4th.

quote:

In the event that teams finish with the same record, each tied team receives the average of the total number of combinations for the positions that they occupy. In 2007, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Portland Trail Blazers tied for the sixth worst record. The average of the 6th and 7th positions in the lottery was taken, resulting in each team getting 53 combinations (the average of 63 and 43). Should the average number not be an integer, a coin flip is then used to determine which team or teams receive the extra combination(s). The result of the coin flip is also used to determine who receives the earlier pick in the event that neither of the tied teams wins one of the first three picks via the lottery.

Looking at the schedules, we will almost certainly pass up Sacramento and Cleveland with EG being in a rhythm. Please help us, Overlord Stern.

Currently these are the standings:
New Orleans 18 42
Sacramento 20 41
Cleveland 20 39

My projected finish for each team:

Hornets (4-2)
Mon, Apr 16 @Charlotte W
Wed, Apr 18 @Memphis L
Thu, Apr 19 vsHouston L
Sun, Apr 22 @Los Angeles Clippers W
Tue, Apr 24 @Golden State W
Thu, Apr 26 @Houston W

Sacramento (1-4)
Wed, Apr 18 vsSan Antonio L
Fri, Apr 20 vsOklahoma City L
Sun, Apr 22 @Charlotte W
Tue, Apr 24 @Oklahoma City L
Thu, Apr 26 vsLos Angeles Lakers L

Cleveland (2-5)
Tue, Apr 17 @Detroit W
Wed, Apr 18 vsPhiladelphia L
Fri, Apr 20 vsNY Knicks L
Sun, Apr 22 @San Antonio L
Mon, Apr 23 @Memphis L
Wed, Apr 25 vsWashington W
Thu, Apr 26 @Chicago L

That would leave the standings at:
Sacramento 21 45
New Orleans 22 44
Cleveland 22 44

I'm really guessing on Cleveland.

Sacramento's schedule is rediculous!

I think we split with Houston, but I bet Gordon goes off on LAC. GS will be an interesting game. We split the prior two meetings with them and are playing better now.

Lots of basketball to play and there is no tellign how these teams will play at the end of the season.

Chicago will probably have the #1 seed clinched by their last game, so maybe they'll let Cleveland win that one.

And the Lakers will probably be resting Kobe and possibly their bigs during the last game if their spot is set. Hell, OKC may be locked up by the time they play them too.

We are hot right now, but I don't see us going 4-2 over the last 6. I think we stay at #3 by a slim margin, and don't see any way Cleveland passing us up.

The Lottery is May 30th.

Hopefully we only have 1 win left in us, and Sac and Cleveland get at least one more.

SAC, CLE, GS, NJ, and TOR, all within striking distance of our coveted #3 spot, have brutal schedules down the stretch.

We are screwed.

As long as Love stays out the Wolves could drop tremendously. There are currently 4 teams with 22+ wins behind them while the Wolves have only 25. Could you imagine if we finished with the 3rd worst record and the Wolves finished with the 6th?
