Fill me in on our current draft situation

Haven't been following too closely, but are we expected to have a first round pick in this years draft? I remember there was a protected first round pick in the Holiday trade.

Top 3, 20-30 protected. Not likely to land it. This is from the Asik trade.

No. We need to have the 20th-30th pick or win the lottery (1-3) in order to keep it. Very unlikely at this point. We will either have the 14th or 18th/19th and that will go to Houston.

The protected pick is for the Asik trade. I believe we keep it if we draft in the top three or 20 or later. So we need to either miss the playoffs and hit the jackpot or keep winning and hope we finish with a better record than the 5 seed in the East so that we draft 20 or later.

It's very unlikely. The pick is ours if it's 1-3 or 20-30. If we miss the playoffs and pull of the unlikely lottery win (something like a less than 2% chance) we keep it. If we make the playoffs AND have a record better than the 4 seed in the East our pick will be #20 and we keep it.

So where is everyone getting to pick Sam Dekker around 10-12??? We don't even have a pick at that spot...are they assuming trade?

Is he really that good? Saw a stat on ESPN - he is shooting 54% from 3 pt. range in the tournament, but only 30% in the first 34 games. That doesn't seem impressive.

Just checked. We are 3.5 back of Toronto (4 seed) with 6 to play. They have 5 to play. We would have to win out and have them lose at least 3 to have any chance.
We are also 2.5 back of Washington. We aren't getting a late first, so we are basically down to the 1.8% chance of jumping into the top 3. The pick is all but gone.
