The saints are in a whole different situation than the Pelicans, they are trying to win another one before Drew dies of old age lol

The Pelicans still have to decide what their philosophy is

Not saying bensons pocket change isn't bad, but Asik is not worth 15 mill a year, let alone 8 on our figure just to rebound. We can find that elsewhere for cheaper, or more $ for a better center with more production in other areas.

Not saying Marc gasol is athletic but If things don't work out for the grizz this season I could seriously see him giving us a hard look. Quincy can talk him up to come here and that would be a sick frontcourt defensive combination, plus with gasols ability to drop 20 a night. Wow.

We need scoring and more athleticism.

You mean you wanted Greg Monroe?

A lot of the high-paid centers in this league are defensively oriented with some moderate offensive skill or barely any at all.

Howard gets paid 21.9mil/yr, but he's arguably top 3 when healthy.

Cousins gets paid 16.4mil/yr, but he's young, athletic, and arguably the best offensive big man.

Brook Lopez gets paid 15.2mil/yr, he's a bad rebounder, decent offensive center, injury history, and nobody considers him good defensively.

Roy Hibbert 14.6mil/yr, good rebounder, great defensive anchor, decent offensively.

Marc Gasol 14.375mil/yr, do i need to explain this?

Tyson Chandler 13.85mil/yr, older, but he's what you'd want if he was 5 years younger for this team.

Al Jefferson 13.67mil/yr, great offensively, average defensively

Nene Hilario 13.0mil/yr, meh...overpaid. Always been offensive oriented, he's pretty bad defensively and a bad rebounder for his size

Marcin Gortat 12.0mil/yr, offensive polish hammer. defensively average.

Al Horford 12.0mil/yr, underpaid compared to some of them above. he's a pretty complete center

Pekovic 12.0mil/yr, offensive only

Joakim Noah 12.0mil/yr, he should be paid more.

KG 12.0mil/yr, this is retarded

Bogut 12.0mil/yr, offensively average, defensively above average.

DeAndre Jordan 10.76mil/yr, he is about to get PAID. Total hustle player, solid defense, great rebounder, elite-level athleticism.

Jordan Hill 9.0mil/yr, hahahahahahaha no.

Tiago Splitter 9.0mil/yr, seriously...

and here comes the 19th highest avg paid center...
Omer Asik 8.375mil

Asik > half of those guys above him.

Hassan whiteside was a snag, Guys like that on the cheap or if we spend the $ spend it on somebody worthwhile. Look at what Mosgov gives the cavs on both ends, or a guy like koufus. I think like an economist. I want to spend $ wisely on assets that are long term. If we don't re sign Asik that is a complete fail
And waste of a pick. Period.

He wouldn't come here. You make it sound like its so easy to pluck Gasol from under everyone else who's willing to throw a near-max/max contract at him.

Picks are overrated

You can buy a late 1st or a second and find good bench guys

Why did Lebron join the cavs besides the fact that he's from OHIO? Kyrie Irving and a young team with fresh legs. Pelicans have that. They also have an intriguing player-friendly head coach. Monty doesn't know what he's doing 1/2 of the time but he sure as hell is a good people person and players around the league like him. A lot. It will be easier than you think to lure players here bc of AD,soon. As long as we show the $.

Haha how are you gonna quote me saying 2 first round picks and then say picks are overrated you can get them easily in the later of the rounds, when the cavs are gonna be giving away those late first round picks anyways....

that a lot of people missed, even still there's an issue with him up in his noggin. Did you not read the public announcement after he got suspended for being an idiot? He's an athletic guy and a great find, but his stats are empty when he's pretty bad inside as well.

Mozgov has a 105 drtg, 121 ortg. +16
Asik has a 104 drtg, 113 ortg. +9

Mozgov also costed 2 1st round picks.

Koufos has a 6foul/48minute - He's just not starter material just like Ajinca. I'd take him and Asik over Asik and Ajinca any day though. If he was starter material, he'd have latched on to a team's starting lineup already. In his highest MPG season (2012-2013), he played 22.4mpg, 122 ortg, 103 drtg, but he fouled 4.9/36.

It's because you said asik was a waste of a pick

Since you're an "economist" wouldn't you rather asik for one rather than mosgov for 2?

Picks ARE overrated but Asik for 1>>>>>>Mosgov for 2

I like your analytics and numbers, I really do. Shows effort. I just am so about the eye test these days but I still like stats. I would just rather either upgrade a diff position since AD is gonna be playing center more as he gets bigger anyways. If we are gonna spend money lets get somebody who's got more to bring than Asik. That is literally all im asking for.

LeBron went back to the Cavs because its his home. If he wanted to win and have the highest shot, it would have been best going to Houston or Chicago. Solid defensive teams, great PG/SG that he can play next to, and a non-newbie coaching the team with good chemistry and a length of winning games.

Monty has attracted who in FA so far? 0 superstars. Tyreke through a trade, EG through a trade, and Jrue through a trade.

Oh wait, Ryno through a sign and trade, Omer Asik through a trade, and Pondexter back from a trade we sent him off.

He's a great player's coach, but he's not going to attract anyone, not with how little we can pay free agents. We had to trade for a center to get his bird's rights to be able to re-sign him.

Ok I see where your coming from. I would rather the Pelicans get the pick this year bc the pick is much lower than the cavs. We are young and sort of rebuilding/semi-competing and need young pieces to fill out the roster, cavs don't. Houston is gonna get a solid draft pick this year in a pretty deep draft from top to bottom.

It's not out of the question we acquire a pick somehow if some guys get moved.

Guys like Cole/Q-Pon etc are exactly what we need, not kids.

Not old and have experience
