Yeah, that's true. Playoff experience would be great for the Pelicans

I just wish you were fair in your assessment of Asik

When have you ever given him props for having a good couple of games?

It's straight negative

Exactly. He only takes the negative offensive games of Asik and compares it to the best games of Ajinca and goes "SEE, ASIK SUCKS!"

Asik is who he is and has been consistently that player the last 3 years. Bad offensively and a smart big defender. That is all we need from that position with AD at PF.

And Asik has been very competent offensively lately no matter who they've played.

He's been sound since the ASB

But we are only battling for 8th seed and maybe soon battling for 9th seed

But injuries and Monty can be a big part of that

Bc he does what he's paid to do, not even always, just 70-80% of the time, and does absolutely nothing else. I know Ajinca is God awful at boxing out but he does still get a high number of rebounds for his pathetic amount of usage doesn't he? He also gives the team offense, something the team struggles to find and something the team needs when their D is struggling or when players are out. And then speaking of D, we are bottom feeders statiscally, mainly in points allowed in the paint. How is that possible with Asik and AD who leads the NBA in blocks? Sure poor guard defense that allows penetration I know, but Asik has not been there consistent period. If we are going to be bottom feeders in points in the paint anyways why not have extra offense in Ajinca? That's my stance.

Monty's scheme is why

There's no reason this team should be bad defensively with AD/Asik and a Healthy Jrue.

Ajinca is also a foul magnet

Read my response to lobos. We are a bottom 25-30 team in defense specifically points in the paint. If we are gonna get scored on like that I would rather have more offense to counter rather than Asik not doing what he's paid to do 90% of the time and then completely taking away from our offense. Like I've said so many times. If Asik wasn't paid like he is I would never complain, unless his offensive usage remains unnecessarily high.

As long as Anderson and Ajinca are NEVER our front court players. .. if thats the case I agree with your logic. But are we really that bad in points against in paint.

I knew it was bad but didn't know it was bottom of the barrel bad

Getting paid 8.374mil/yr on average. What do you think a defensive center deserves to get paid?

Yeah it's been a topic before it's really really bad. Part to do with guard penetration and our inability to stop it but that's where Asik doesn't show up. He can't Jump and its too easy to get floaters up over him, or passing around him and he's not quick enough to respond. Not saying Ajinca is any better but Ajinca is not getting a multi million dollar contract to protect the paint, and he's still getting a good amount of boards and blocks. Ajinca is by no means a long term answer at the center, but neither is Asik, I'm sorry I just don't see him being here next season. Give us a younger more athletic center to pair with AD.

He will be

We don't have many options for a "young athletic center"

Well lucky for us that's the number that appears on the cap. Asik
Should get 5 mill a year max. More so 3 years 12 mill. He's proven to me he is nothing but a guy who can protect the rim 70-80 percent of the time. We need scoring and more athleticism.
