Poll: Will the Pelicans make the playoffs?

No 70% (93 votes)
Yes 30% (39 votes)

quote:

I'll be honest. Even with that lineup, they could still tank for Wiggins

quote:

And no they won't make the playoffs. Anthony Davis has a fragile body that is probably packing serious china while Eric Gordon is in the elite tier of always shattering his glass just below the ATG's like Bynum/Oden/Bowie. The worst part of Gordon's glass problems is that he's soft and has no toughness, NONE.

quote:

If they do they've done themselves a disservice. You don't want to play yourself out of the lottery too quick when rebuilding through the draft. They should've let EG go, or taken some picks from Phoenix and not taken on Tyreke. They've hurried themselves into mediocrity after acquiring a potential franchise player in AD. The great thing about drafting a franchise big is they take a few years to be completely impactful. Giving you plenty of time to build through the draft.

Unless AD is a real loyal type I see these moves as precursors to his departure.

LOL, come on...

Denver and Golden State are obviously better. Kobe + Gasol + Nash should be good enough to be better than the Pelicans too. I'm sure the Jazz will be better too. Minnesota if healthy should have no problem being better. I put the Pelicans around 11th best in West, at best. Dallas and Portland could also be better.

quote:

Davis had a decent rookie year, but not a great one. He would need to come on big and one of Gordon (if they don't trade him) or Evans would need to return to form.

I hate OKC for making people think rebuilding through the draft is a good idea

an article from HP.com on the rebuild. Hes skeptical too, but ultimately there is no "right" way. You try some shite and hope it works. At least Demps is trying something new

I've been searching "Pelicans" on Twitter to see what people think, and a lot of people on there are impressed. Then of course you have people tweeting to this day "Wen da fuq did da Hornets become da Pelicans?", and one girl just tweeted "WTF is a PELICAN!!??"

I just don't understand what's not to get about this phenomenal offseason that's still not over.

This is one thing I still fear some.

But Demps does seem to handle the cap much more proficiently than the previous regime. Hopefully we don't get weighed down by deals and become incapable of bringing in more talent.

The biggest thing to me that stuck out in that article was:
quote:

Should their gamble pay off and the Pelicans emerge as a sleeper next season Dell Demps look like a genius, but should it backfire their best case scenario is winning 30 games and finishing as the ninth-seed.

Since when does 30 wins get you the 9th seed in the West?

Pels would have to try real hard for that now.
