It's a giant pain.

My hope is that putting it up will not only get people to point out when something is wrong, but that it'll get Pelicans fans on the same page with the salary, etc. It'll make some discussion more coherent.

Anything to elevate the fanbase.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: We can't just be a typical fan base. We have to be more educated, more passionate, more vocal than an average fanbase because of who we are.

Hoopshype is the basis for most of my calculations. But I never remember "do they include the red but not the green and blue". Plus they don't have as much info as what 42 is working on. For instance the BSS page lists the buyout amounts and dates for guys, like I didn't know it would cost $1 million to cut Jason Smith.

HH is not as good as hoopsworld and shamsports.

BSS will drill down with Pelicans stuff and have sport stuff on other teams.

So they will all have their place.

How hard is this to compile and update? If you're able to automate it in someway doing such a comprehensive page for every team might be worthwhile. I know the salaries page is one of the main reasons I visit HoopsHype regularly.

They have a good twitter page with most of the basketball writers in one place.

This is a good twitter page, but I am biased.

I just meant the salary info.

If I can get it in a db, it would be easier, but the info would naturally be less comprehensive in most cases than Pelicans.

It is a consideration. We definitely want some good analysis of particular teams now and again.

Long-term, it could happen.

First, we want to get this right.

Also, Plucker's on Bluebonnet, patio, 5:30-8:30. Booked. More later.

The Cap Room page, or at least the start of it.

It's also a dropdown from the menu off of Salary Central.

I know you were asking for advice on the page... not a big deal, but you all have the colors for player and team options the opposite of the way hoopshype has them. I think a lot of people are probably used to their setup. Also, while I'm far from an NBA cap expert, I'm getting better. Still, the notes you all have listed make no sense, particularly the last two. They seem like they're not worded very well, but even if they are, they could use another few sentences of clarification of what they mean and how they affect our spending.

The important dates section is great, though. Definitely the kind of thing that makes that page worth visiting as opposed to just using hoopshype. Ditto on the cap hold amount being listed.

I'll consider the colors, but other sites differ too. So which site to prefer, you know? See Hoopsworld and Shamsports. I went with something that made sense to me: red and vlue are opposite ends of the spectrum, green in between. Team control is best, so it gets blue. I will consider, regardless.

As far as the wording goes, I'll be adding and tweaking a ton this weekend. What I want to do is give precise, if tough to understand (this stuff is complicated), comments with elaborate examples using Pelicans situations as part of each. All that 3am writing may need to be completely redone. I commited to the numbers being out, and they are right, typos aside, to my knowledge.

Thanks.

Trade stuff following this, a transaction list and analysis, and maybe more. I want to get the trade stuff up no more than 2 weeks from now. All those hover notes help, but these are separate topics and need to be kept apart for clarity, at least at first.
