Greg Monroe and 10th for 6th
quote:

"The New Orleans Pelicans have the sixth pick and could use a potent low-post scorer and rebounder to complement their superstar, Anthony Davis. Would the Bucks’ 10th pick and Greg Monroe, a Louisiana native who is a productive around-the-basket player, entice them to make a trade?"

Surely if this option is presented we would look HARD right?
Count me as a fan who would love this trade.

I'm just not a Monroe fan. Too much money at one position.

They'd have to take Evans or Asik for me to accept the deal...I really love Dunn as our pick at 6 though...also love the other idea of getting Prince as a 3 & D in the middle of the first.

That's not a terrible deal. We pick up Monroe and maybe draft Brown with #10. I'm only down if we can get rid of Asik (not likely). Can't have that much money locked into the 5.

Monroe has a player option next summer. So he's potentially a one year rental. I want nothing to do with him.

Can't do it without them taking Asik back but if they did then I'm all over it

Not worth it, especially if only a 1 year rental. Dropoff from 6 to 10 is potentially significant.

It does seem like a good trade, but like everyone else has said.... Dropoff from 6 to 10 is significant considering he would also be a 1 year rental.

I hope we just draft Murray or Dunn and move on with a young star.

If we gave up Asik, I would at least consider it. Monroe is still not a good defender, and he only has one year left I think. I'd rather keep the pick because like someone already stated, there's a decent drop off from picks 6 to 10. If we end up with a Dunn, Murray, or Hield, especially Dunn, I would be happier.

If they traded Evans they'd have no shooting guards and 3 highly paid centers....

Also think Monroe is a bad fit here.

I'd take it. The draft is such a crap shoot after the #1 pick in most seasons.

A little history on the 10th pick over the last 10 years:

2 have been All Stars (Brook Lopez & Paul George)

For the 6th pick?

1 All Star (Lilliard

Came across this on 82games.com that gives career value to each pick for the last 20 years of drafts (1989-2008): https://www.82games.com/nbadraftpicks.htm

As you can see, there has actually been better production from the 10th pick than the 6th pick.

Point being, I take that deal in a hearbeat if we think we can ship off Asik. Not worried about Monroe leaving after 1 season. He's been rumored to want to move back to Nola and play for us. Pretty sure we could convince him to sign a new deal.

Fatoine Walker

The error in this kind of thinking is that this draft class is independent of previous draft classes. We're not playing roulette here, so this is like the draft gamblers fallacy. How do the guys available at 10 compare to the guys available at 6 THIS year?

How did Derrick Williams stack up to Jimmy Butler? I guess number 2 overall has no more value than 30.
