Two of these guys list Philadelphia as having the strongest offseason in the league. I just don't understand it. I know one thing; I am hoping that we make the playoffs this year just so I can stop hearing about how great of a deal the 76ers pulled off by trading a 23 year old All Star PG.

2 of them listed them as a top move in the Eastern Conference. 1 of the 2 listed New Orleans as best in the West. It really was a win win trade if Philly tanks right and drafts well. A new regime looking to start from scratch and find it's franchise player traded a cornerstone piece to a team that already found its franchise player and was ready to jump to the next level.

If the Sixers wind up with a top 5-7 pick in the 2014 draft, they'll probably be assured a franchise prospect to pair with this year's first-round selection.

This could be the dumbest thing I've read all off season. "They'll probably be assured a franchise prospect." GFY dude

People think Noel could be a franchise player?. It seems that consensus was his ceiling was basically an all-star.

People overrate the hell out of draft picks. Seriously, at best they'll get the 12th pick from us. Noel hasn't played a game yet in the NBA. frick those people. Also Michael Carter-Williams has shot like an a-hole this summer so far. He's 0/5 today, was 4/20 last game and shot something shitty their first game too. I know it's summer league but screw that.

Nerlens has the potential to be a top C in the league. 2014 draft is hyped more than any in recent memory. They didn't do too bad. It really depends on how much you like Jrue.

One can look at it like: Jrue wasn't a lottery pick and the 76ers picked 2 lottery picks up for him, one of those lottery picks being the number 1 pick before he got injured.

ETA: Sounds good on paper

Closer to the draft the hyperbole gets out of control. I can easily see a Marcus Camby or Larry Sanders kind of player. I think the hope is Philly's 2014 pick would land the franchise player.

I'm not seeing the Noel hype. What's his ceiling? Marcus Camby, good player with a lot of longevity but not a franchise player.

That's the dumbest way to look at it after a player has been in the league for a few years already. At that point, nobody cares where they were drafted anymore because its not relevant.

I like to look at it like Jrue is an all-star, and they got 2 unknowns for him

either way, tho

Tom Sunnergren, Hoop76: The 76ers' trade of Jrue Holiday for Noel and a protected 2014 first-round pick. In one fell swoop, new GM Sam Hinkie transformed a funereally depressing Philadelphia team -- rooted in mediocrity like an old oak tree -- into a young, cheap, talented upstart that's looking at two lottery picks in the most stacked draft class in a decade. Hinkie is an alchemist.
SMH

Does he not realize thats exactly what that trade did for them?

shite on young guys who can play for DRAFT PICKS. DRAFT PICKS!!!

It's going to be funny when they don't win the Wiggins sweepstakes. Ask the Bobcats, Kings, Wizards, etc. about all these awesome franchise players they get in the lottery every year.

Noel is nothing but Larry Sanders. A good player but please do not compare him to a franchise player.

This guy makes a good point. I'm not happy if I'm a Thunder fan this offseason. Staying put is never a good thing.

It's pretty rare that a true franchise player comes from outside the top 5 even in a loaded draft.

Might be dumb to trade an nba player for potential, but we did just sign tyreke to a 44 million contract largely based on potential. I've always said I like the trade.

Only time will tell who won the trade. I think it will be clear who won in a few years.

Either way, with all the money put into the new practice facility and arena and everything, Demps didn't really have the option of tanking like the sixers did. If we tanked and developed players, we would probably suck for 2 more years which would make it more probable for Davis to grow unhappy imo and also jeopardize the future of nola basketball.

It's pretty obvious the owner has handcuffed the GM. Don't go into the tax and don't amnesty Perkins. It's really kind of depressing that they apparently can't afford to be a proper contender.
