Since you're my go to guy for all my Pelican questions , I thought we were unable to trade EG to Phoenix until mid July? Wasn't that a stipulation in the contract?

Correct, but not a stipulation in the contract. Its league rules regarding RFAs.

If he signs an Offer Sheet, he can't be traded to that team for one full year from siging the offer sheet, and he can refuse trades to other teams for that league year.

Ok, I thought so. Isn't this thread much ado about nothing then?

No, in theory they could agree on the deal, they "pick for us" and we make the trade after the fact.

In theory.

EG for #5 How long do you want to suck? I saw a kid, in the 2016 class, dunk in an all-star game on SC the other day... should they tank for him too? When does it end? This franchise cant take 3 more years of being in the top end of the lottery... and Benson wont allow it. And Dell wont trade a "potential" all-star SG for the 5th pick in a weak arse draft

So you would like to stick with EG and hope he plays plus build in FA?? Who is going to come here?? So we have to wait and build in the draft bc I don't see any STUDS wanting to be in NOLA

Plus in the next 2 years would you rather

A: EG our #6 and who knows? Def won't be championship caliber

B: #5 and #6 and most likely a top 5 pick in a loaded 2014 draft. We could have a very talented young team. Then you can lure veterans to NOLA

No one wants to watch a losing team next year. So no one is going to agree with a plan that includes being bad another year. The team should be decent next year. It only needs a couple of pieces. I hate Gordan more than anybody else on here, so I'd love to move him. But it can't happen for Phx's pick. It's against the rules..

Call me crazy, but Id rather have the proven NBA guy rather than take a chance on the 5th pick in a weak draft.

I'd also rather not tank for another season to get a shot at a now high school senior... These guys fizzle out all the time, and the NBA has a very high bust rate when it comes to the lottery

And we have no idea what Dell, Monty, Benson and a rebrand will do for FA attractions to this franchise... Since they've been here they've been handcuffed by a shitty owner who couldn't give a frick about winning... All he was concerned with was not paying luxury taxes. Lets give these guys, who are highly regarded around the league, a few years to build this thing before we tank for a high school senior... This team can't afford another awful season, showing no improvement... If you dont agree, go look up recent attendance numbers

Kudos. No shite.

There are all kinds of variations on building a team in a market like N.O. And not every player has the exact same motivation or goal. I've predicted some surprises this offseason and I'm sticking to that prediction.
