Just one idea. I'm just trying to say I want to be cautious with our picks and build an okc or san antonio rather than a magic with dwight or a lebron with cavs or a cp3 with nola.

Nola isn't a destination city, we have to get superstars for a core from the draft and when they're very young.

Er, uh, trading EG for #5

=/=

quote:

?AD isn't there yet. With this lineup I think we'd be a solid core and easily in the playoffs after next season. shite takes time, being young is a good thing. It gives us a lot of chances to win a championship.

To compare this team to the grizzlies,
Pek=gasol
Ad> randolph defense and offense
Bennett>>> prince offense < prince defense and gives us some randolph toughness at rim
Dipo> allen
I think rivers can be comparable to conley

If you want to trade for average players we can be a flash in the pan and back to mediocrity. If we assess talent well and are cautious with who we add and what cap space we use for the next years, we can compete for a championship for the next decade.

I fricking guarantee you that the long term success of the Pelicans does not hinge on moving from dumping EG for the sake of moving to 5. In fact, I'd say that would be remarkably dumbass move.

I didn't say our success is dependent on moving EG. I just would like to go a different direction with our cap space over the next years.

Yeah, I keep typing to add, but I think your post takes care of it.

The thread is about trading EG for 5 and keeping our 6, not 6 + EG for 5.

Fair enough. The OP suggestion is lunacy, however.

They are definitely a good team, but you act like they have sustained success for more than 2 years....

Maybe not straight up but phoenix wants eg and I think a package centered around that plus perhaps lopez or something like a 2015 pick or 2 nd rounds or cash wouldn't be too far off.

I went off on a tangent with the team I'd like to tey next year with the 5 and 6 picks but it's just an idea.

If you have the best medical staff in the NBA, know the player wants to be on your team, and the guy in question is VERY talented at a position that is pretty weak throughout the NBA, I wouldn't rule it out at all. The Suns are dying to be relevant right now. EG, if he works out, could be a huge step towards that.

For the 5th pick in the worst draft ever?

Dunno. The whole "can we trade EG to the Suns/when can we trade him to anyone" situation has changed several times. May need 42 to answer that one, he's pretty on top of the EG situation.

I thought we couldn't trade him to the Suns for a year. He officially signed our contract on July 17 th or then.

Not a terrible draft, just not a clear cut elite player. Plus about $10m in cap space in that trade. I'm not even saying I'd be super excited about EG for 5 since I think we're not a big FA destination and THAT cap space couldn't be well used. Plus we will probably need EG to match his potential if we want to be a legit top 4 seed contender within the next 3 years.

You very well may be right. I don't know enough about the NBA's cap intricacies to answer.

Yea the 5th pick, contrary to what your xbox says, Gordon aint a top 5 sg. Oladipo had to be in the shadows behind zeller. He's smart and cooperative. EG is a punk with a degenerative knee as far as I'm concerned. Dipo sayd he wants to be in a smaller city where he can focus just on basketball. EG wants money and hoes in a big city, not to grow over the years with a bunch of 20 year olds. He questions his future with nola a lot.

And no im not a homosexual, no one is sucking his dick, but you can keep fantasizing. As far as SGs available at #5 this is a great draft.
