Thornton is a horrible fit for the Heat.

An athletic bench scorer that can drain open threes and provide a spark off of the bench.

Marcus likes to go to the basket too and he can't do that with the Heat. He also likes to shoot a lot and he definitely can't do that with the Heat.

A guy who can shoot 3s, move off the ball, and attack on the dribble is a great fit for MIA. Heat need perimeter finishers off of all the doubles Wade/LBJ see. I think he finds enough shots to get around 12 ppg.

His lack of defense would probably be the biggest problem honestly. The fact that he's a volume shooter doesn't help, but I still think he could contribute quite a bit on the heat

Agree to a certain extent on defense. But he is not worse than the corpse of Mike Bibby or Eddie House. He is a massive upgrade for the Heat. Wade/Chalmers/MT is a pretty good 3 guard rotation.

Despite being shorter, he brings a similar offensive skill set as healthy Miller.

The thing with Hornets fans is they try to downplay how good Thornton is to make themselves feel better about the Landry trade.
Thornton is a capable 20+ppg scorer who is better when he dominates the ball and is able to drive along with using his jumpshot. Why would he go to Miami where he wouldnt be able to do that.

I never understood the myth that "he likes to shoot alot", "he's a volume scorer", since Marcus Thornton came into the league he's always has been a guy that scored in the flow of the game, he scores by cleaning up the boards, getting ahead on the break for easy lay ups, steals and finishes and free throws. Marcus could gave 12 points and never take a shot.

He does like to shoot the ball anyore than any other basketball player regardless of level, hell just look at our team, wilie green, jarett jack, trevor ariza, i can't recall Marcus throwing up a "what the hell was that shot" but I.can recalling quite a few from belinelli.

People use to say if you started him, where would his shots come from with west and Paul, but guys like ariza, belli, green and jack should have been limited in shot attempts, he's your beat all around scorer next to Chris Paul, west would get his and Paul was going to defer to somebody, that meant that Marcus deserved 12-15 in any night.

He's not a chucker, he's not a guy who shoots a lot of 3s and can't make them, hes good at it, he can hit short jumper and attack the rim, he's not some scrub trying to become a star. He's unfairly labeled volume, when that's not his game, volume scores are not really good scores, they just put up points because they take so may shots they have end up with 25 or 30.

He gets his because he he can go 5-7 from three at any given time and get 12 without taking a jumper, then driving to the rim and hitting free throws.

He doesn't need 20 shots to get 22 points, and if he does end the game with 20 shots he was hot early and was.given the green light to keep shooting.

The thing that gets me is that apparently people expect you to be able to score a lot without touching the ball.

I loved Marcus when he was at LSU and in New Orleans but can you guys give up. He isnt ever coming back to new orleans. Hopefully he finds a good place elsewhere in the league but I'm tired of pro-Thornton lovers coming in and making like he would be the savior of the Hornets. This topic comes up every week.

If you're tired why did you read and respond?

This thread was created because along time local sports guy did an editorial, not a 10 second mention during sports.

In that editorial he was point blank and direct, he didn't say rumor has it,

he said "the hornets want Marcus Thornton back", then he mentions that Thornton wants to comeback.

it was something that a lot of people might have missed so it was a legitimate topic, not some I wish Marcus comes back thread.

A credible news guy(no fletcher mackel) said they want him back, the question was does anybody have any connections or inside info that you could give up.

Fact is if chouest is really gonna by the team I would think he would want Thornton back.for many reasons, I.don't think its a coincidence. That he was traded after chouest was no longer the owner.

Anyway nobody thinks he the savior, but to give up an explosive guard that we had finally come up on when we had waited so long for a sg was stupid and just to have landry, you thought landry would put you over the top with what you had was crazy.

There is no such thing as a savior of the Hornets as long as they have that goateed retard as a coach.

With that said, Thornton would make the Timberwolves, Raptors, or Cavs instant contenders.

Monty is not anywhere near that bad. The second sentence is a pretty big stretch. Do you know how bad those 3 teams were?

Yes. Taking a team from 37-45 to 46-36 and the playoffs as a first year head coach is absolutely shameful.
