Sources: New Orleans is signing No. 31 overall pick Frank Jackson of Duke to 3-year deal, with two guaranteed years and third-year partial.

I hope the kid is good and can make the roster. I just don't understand why we don't keep our draft picks (pick-up some more too) and develop some depth. Just imagine if this guy makes the team and play some major minutes. He's going to be making less than a million dollars the next two seasons. If we did that every year, we should have 6-8 guys on rookie contracts making less than 20M a year. Imagine the moves we could make then and the core we would have..

Trading 1sts in the past was questionable at the time and looks worse in hindsight. But resigning DeMarcus Cousins is a make or break event for this team, so they'd be stupid to not trade the 2018 for a player than can help convince Cousins to stay.
I just hope they can keep their 2nd and use cash for any minor trades like a CJ Miles S&T. Diallo and Jackson look like good prospects so if they can keep repeating that success they might be able to get back on track with the cheap depth.

It's in our best interest to play and develop him this year

This must be the offseason signing we were looking forward to.

Not sure if it was told somewhere else (sorry if I will do it again)
Because he got 3 years - we had to use part of MLE. Like with Diallo last year. Minnimum exceptions can be for up to two years.
TBH I like it. Without other movements we wont be signing anybody for full MLE.

So if he is any good we have bird rights.

I saw a video on Reddit where Frank talked about sitting out the summer league (can't watch it at work). Is he sitting out the entire summer league?

Yes. Summer League is short. The Pels last game is today I believe. They say he should be ready for training camp.

Pels are playing today vs. Hawks
if they win - they will play Spurs in the next round
it may not be the last game :)

Per Eric Pincus - Frank has two years fully guaranteed at minimum.
3 year is guaranteed for 506k
