McLemore, Porter, Burke Bennett are all really good players to be had.

If Greg Monroe is on the market, then almost every team in the league will be giving Detroit a call. He won't come cheap and most teams have more to offer.

Considering how badly Detroit needs an elite point guard, we would be in a position to deal if we had the #1 or #2 pick and could ensure they get Burke.

They have Calderon's Bird rights, but he is far from a long-term solution if they re-sign him and Knight looks to be middling at best.

so it would take

Anderson
our 1st

for

Monroe?

Vasquez/Rivers
Gordon/Mason/Roberts
Aminu/Miller
Davis/Smith
Monore/Lopez

i would rather go after Pek, and draft Porter or Shabazz. Then flip Lopez for a guy like Marshon Brooks from Brooklyn.

Vasquez/Rivers
Gordon/Brooks/Roberts
Aminu/Porter or Shabazz/Miller
Davis/Anderson
Pekovic/Smith

That's my thoughts. It's not what he's worth, it's what other teams are willing to trade for him. I guess this is all conditioned upon us trading Burke to them. I still think we'd have to sweeten the deal some. Maybe

Burke, Anderson, Lopez
for
Monroe & 2013 1st rounder

Still not sure they wouldn't get better from someone else.

The only way I see us trading a pick is if we get the third pick tonight and McLemore and Porter got 1-2 in the draft, and we trade back for someone trying to get Noel

The way this draft is, I don't think that where we pick matters. We're pretty much going to get a role player unless we find a diamond in the rough

If we get the #1 or #2 pick then we should be able to get a solid trade out of it.

Doubtful.

How many players are worth taking in this draft? And of those, how many of them are either good enough to be worth taking over a different prospect OR are so necessary to a team that they are willing to pay up and leap someone else?

The four or five top talents seem to be Noel, Burke, Porter, McLemore, and Bennett.

Cleveland would want Porter bad.
Orlando would want Burke bad.

Outside of that, I see most of these teams taking BPA because they have so many holes that any of the remaining guys would fill them.

I doubt we'll get much to move from 3 to 5 if Cleveland wants Porter, or from 1 to 3 or 4 if Orlando wants Burke.

It's possible that you could find someone wanting to trade up for Noel, that's about it. I guess it depends on how are big board is and if we think we can trade back and still get our #2-3 guy

Monroe can't defend the paint well, can't block shots well, has bad post defense. He's more of a pf to me and it's not like he was carrying detroit to greatness. Im not high on him. Theoretically we could get any C in the league when they become a FA. I wouldn't pay the kid max money and I sure as hell wouldn't trade burke lopez and anderson for him.

Its almost like he'd compliment a player like Anthony Davis...

By that logic so would austin rivers playing C because AD is known to block opposing Cs all day

Eta: he shot 48.6% from the field with subpar ft% this year.

I think by draft time McLemore and Noel are players that people will trade for in this draft.

No, he had a great year and measured better than expected with an 8'1" standing reach. I don't see it happening when we have rivers/gv at pg though.

He is a power forward. He was playing center by default. When Drummond was healthy at the end of the season, Monroe played the 4 and played it really well. Detroit is trying to add pieces to Drummond and Monroe, not get rid of one.

The right to choose at slot x v slot y or what you trade that right for is far less important than how the Pelicans all their resources.

Luck can be a factor in anything, but I see this draft slot difference as something of lesser importance.
