It will forever be the model in NBA circles of what not to do.

He definitely tried a different approach. It failed. Miserably.

I understand ownership might have hamstrung him but he tried the same shite in the CP3 trade with the Lakers before Benson was the owner.

There's no doubt it's his philosophy.

There will be articles years from now. Podcasts. Videos. The shining model of what not to do.

I remember a lot of you guys thought that we had such a bright future after we made the playoffs 2 years ago. Now look at us now, we are fricking hot garbage. My have we fallen so bad.

It hurts man. Losing another superstar.

I've been preaching patience but it's so damn bleak. This last offseason was the time to fire Dell. Gives a new GM 4 years.

Now one has basically 2.5.

With bad contracts on the books it is going to be hard for a great GM to fix this mess.

I wasn't a huge Monty fan but after they got to the playoffs he should have been given another year. This team is in a worse position than they were after Davis' first year which is fricking sad.

Asik and Frenchy should be dumpable without giving up too much. Moore is basically an MLE level signing and he's fine for that. He's being asked to start because Buddy isn't ready yet. Hill is new Posey only he's younger and will hopefully improve.

This team is 4-2 if Holiday were available, it's not nearly as bankrupt of talent as 0-6 suggests. Buddy and Hill cannot be busts for you to have any hope of keeping AD, but outside of that the next GM should have a clean enough slate to work with.

This is just miserable. Miserable.

I try not to care but it sucks knowing Davis is probably just fuming.

Fire Dell. Instruct your interim GM to clear the table.

I would do everything to trade everyone you can for expirings without giving up picks or Hield. Take on no long term salary. Dump dump dump. Start over.

Saints are still playing so Mickey Loomis can't be bothered with the Pelicans. He probably doesn't know we're 0-6.

asik has a role, for now he can stay until we can draft, sign, or trade for another center.

frenchy can get sent to no man's land for all I care

Moore is fine, he's not supposed to start for us in the grand scheme of things and he's a guard you want on your team...shoots well and gives you a solid 20 MPG.

The issue is like you said, Buddy and Hill cannot be busts. Hield looks like a rookie which is expected, but Hill on the other hand doesn't have a clear defined role on offense and it is fricking sad to spend 40mil on a player you have no clue what you'd do with him.

Knowing how pre-mature this is, perhaps the Pels would of been batter off giving Joe Johnson 11 million a year for 2 years then paying Solomon the same but for 4.

i would agree. no Holiday is a black hole on this roster. doesn't fix everything, but things should make a hell of a lot more sense.

Buddy and Hill cannot be busts

i wonder what bust means for each guy

way too much faith put in a single GM or coach being BRILLIANT. those guys are extraordinarily rare. and when they do pop up, it's because the ownership/leadership has created an environment for them to succeed. for successful teams, it's always a collaboration from the penthouse to the laundry room

that type of environment doesn't seem to exist on airline drive. until that changes, any success will be in spite of managment.

The Pelicans have three of their best players sitting out right now. How can people not expect them to be losing right now? No reason to complain until atleast Holiday comes back and it hasn't improved.

Asik and Frenchy are not moveable without assets going out. I think Ajinca's deal may be worse than Asik.

No one will talk about Dell and his failure to build because NOLA has been irrelevant for years.

Ajinca will look cheaper under the new CBA and teams will have more interest in the offseason when their rosters aren't full. The new vet minimums will probably be in the low $2s so Ajinca will be like a $3 million deal under the old cap.

Asik will probably take the Philly 2nd to move, but that's an acceptable cost if you have plans for the cap space.

That's great other than the fact Ajinca may not even be roster worthy on an NBA team.

He's the same player he's always been. The last 3 years for the Pels his per 36 is 14.6/11.1/1.7 with an average PER of 16.1. Those 183 games are much more representative of who he is than the 6.8/10.1/0 with a PER of 0.7 we've seen in all of 3 games and 32 minutes. Ajinca is a backup big with a decent rebound rate that can score and space the floor a bit with his jumper. That does have some value in the league. I know these first 6 games have been a disaster, but it's still just 6 games.
