Danny Ainge is an absolute boss.
He took advantage of a poorly managed Nets team to build a potential powerhouse team. Dell needs to build something after taking advantage of a poorly managed Kings team.

the celtics continuing to accumulate draft assets is concerning if you squint into the future
all the talk is about Hayward/butler/George but the real prize is Anthony Davis

The Pels are on the verge of building a nice team with Cousins and Davis. I just can't imagine those two giving up the huge contracts they will only be able to get with the Pels.

I mean if people think Butler takes Brown, #3, plus future first. What the hell would Davis cost? Brown, Thomas, #3, Nets 18? Even if you could get a $1.10 back on the Davis dollar, you still lost the trade in today's NBA. If Demps screwed up so bad that he has to trade Davis with three freaking years left on his deal (4th PO), then he should in no way get to oversee the rebuild. And these assets don't amount to as much potentially in a year. You expect BKN and LAL to top 5 suck now. There's not much further those teams can sink. God forbid LAL isn't as bad or the ping pong balls fall wrong, Bostons assets are de-valued. They want to flip now, not wait another year.

TL:DR - Demps is still employed. No way. We haven't even seen the Boogie/Brow experiment. Nope. Makes zero sense for either team to wait another year. If you're entertaining AD, you bottom out and mortgage the farm and trade Cousins while you have him too.

the possibility is there that boogie/brow doesn't work for whatever reason, boogie leaves or gets traded, and Davis is staring into the abyss. I would say that's just as likely as the pels becoming a consistent playoff contender, given this front office and coaching staffs track record

Davis isn't going anywhere this season and likely next, but after that if things go south the celtics could be well positioned to swoop in with the kind of offer that makes things interesting. In other words they could have the assets to overpay for Davis, if that's even possible

Thomas/Smart/Bradley are all going to get paid next offseason assuming IT comes back fine from injury.

The Lakers have little incentive to suck next year. The biggest assets will be the Nets pick and Brown. I'm looking elsewhere at that point. Kristaps + or something.

Not a bad deal for the Celtics, they don't need a PG, drop to #3 and get Jackson.

They should take a PG and trade IT while his value is high.

I have this weird feeling Ainge won't trade IT, quite worrisome if he's gonna be paid the super max

I'm not sure what type of return you can really get for Thomas. I just don't think there's a GM out there that is just thinking "That guy is the missing piece", unless they use him as a sixth man.

sucks for them he got hurt
I think they could have moved him if that hadn't happened
he could have been a piece in a "star" deal where BOS could have make the case to fans that you have to give to get, and the receiving team could do the same

he's the elephant in the room now with his deal expiring after this season

I think this kind of says tgat the Celtics aren't really thrilled about the top prospects, which I've been echoing for a while.

I really don't see any of these top guys being franchise changing players. If there was a unanimous #1, they woupdnt even think about trading it.

Adrian Wojnarowski ? @WojVerticalNBA
Sixers needed Fultz workout/meeting to complete deal w/ Celtics and, as expected, sides have deal for No. 1 pick. Trade call planned Monday.

Mavs have to make moves to get the space. That's agent/fake news.

While the rumor did feel agent sourced, if there was a team that would throw a 3 year Max at Holiday and sign his brother too it'd be the Mavs.
