So in other words, it really means absolutely nothing.

They're obviously going to try. If you can bring him back on a similar deal, you don't think twice.

Huh?

They had more fouls than us in the first quarter, including AD picking up a quick 3.

Our defense took us out of it early.

I watched the game at like 2:00 a.m. after getting home from a lunar new year party, so the timing may be off. That said, I felt like they were in the bonus the entire night.

Anyone defending JV on this roster doesn’t know ball. I’ll accept not thinking Okongwu is the guy to replace him but if you really think this team has any shot of a post season run with JV playing significant minutes, your head is in the sand. Bookmark it if you’re confident but I guarantee you’ll never bring it back up

I don’t think anyone is delusional enough to think we’re going on a deep postseason run. JV is an acceptable center but I agree with need someone more athletic to complement our guys.

How do you know Okongwu was even available or if they wanted a kings ransom for him? We may have tried to get him but the ask was too steep.

I think with the right C to complement our stars and anchor the defense we have a team that could make a run. You may be right and Okongwu was never available but his name was in rumors. There’s no reason to keep holding the “war-chest” of draft picks when our team is 10 deep at least, already filled with cheap young talent that can’t find the floor (Hawkins). Upgrading our C was the only way to maximize the team this year and we sat on our hands

Rumor has it Hawks wanted to hold onto him because he started playing really well. They were trying to unload Capella.

How people can defend keeping Val is beyond me.
Objectively:
BI - negative defender
Z - obviously negative defender
CJ - obviously negative defender
Herb - all nba level defender
Val - negative defender
How are we supposed to win a championship with 1 positive defender.

Bottom line: JMO: I doubt the Pels consider Val to be part of their future. He'll be gone as soon as a decent opportunity presents itself. Pels are in desperate need for another "surprise" along the line of Herb.

Of what they have currently, I'd say they think that their best shot at another huge "surprise" is...Dyson Daniels. They have a far higher opinion on DD that nearly everybody else here. There was (& still is) hope for Trey but other than those 2...I think they believe our regular rotation players have pretty much topped out. (Except for Herb, of course) Herb is the real deal...& the key for the Pels, is whether or not DD might also end up being the real deal.

Let's just hope DD can come around...I'm optimistic.

Ok, you don’t believe in Okongwu. Cool. My primary point still stands this team has no contending future with JV as the starting C.

My post was just to point out how disingenuous your stat was. How it equates to me saying we’re making a deep postseason run with JV is a confusing takeaway from my response. For all his flaws JV has been a better 3 point shooter than Okongwu. And one thing I can promise you about Okongwu is he won’t win the Pels any games running your offense through him like has happened with JV. Unfortunately this isn’t NBA 2K where you can snap
Your fingers and make a trade.

And before those 12 attempts in February he was shooting under 30% from three for the year.

Don’t argue with Shel about JV. You’ll lose. He’s relentless. Eventually you just give up.

There’s really no reason to have this back and forth about whether or not Okongwu is that guy. He’s not a Pelican. I’m trying to suggest the archetype of player that would complete this roster and give us a shot at making a post season run. This will inevitably be another disappointing, “developmental” year as long as JV is our starting C, end of story

So counter it then, genius. What’s really a retard take is providing absolutely zero substance to your reply

Another option to fill the starting Center role this offseason-- let JV walk and sign a free agent with the MLE. Full MLE is around 12.5, Pels would be 20m under the tax without Naji.

Interesting potential options: Goga Bitadze and Isaiah Hartenstein. Heck, Drummond wouldn't even be that big of a drop-off for 20min./night starting C, although he would cost a lot less. Then, Pels just lean in to more small ball lineups in cruch time with Larry, Zion, or Trey frontcourt positions.

Jonas is a plus player by basically every metric. You are the retard that has nothing of substance to support your shite posting.

You're out of your damn mind. JV is a much, much better center than Drummond in 2024. Drummond is a negative offensive player.
