I have been watching almost every game this season. I know some people are bitching and there could have been some things done differently last night.
This team was ready to play. Zion and Ingram came out on fire. The lakers did also. They could not miss.
Can we get that energy up again tonight? I am staying away from it betting wise. They could have a huge letdown game. If we can scrape a W great.

No one predicted them to lose to the lakers yesterday evening. This team is way to inconsistent to be a contender in the western conference this year.

They honestly shouldn’t lose tonight’s game no matter what. There should be no excuse for a loss tonight. This team is way too talented to lose to an injured, tanking team like the blazers.

I don’t know about all that. We wanted them to win but when it comes to the lakers its always issues in trying to get a win.

Denver lost by 30 at Sacramento last night. Sacramento lost to Detroit on Wednesday.

Boston got smoked by the AD/LeBron-less lakers last week.

Milwaukee lost five of 6 games over the last two weeks.

Who is this team that doesn’t have letdowns?

I'm sick of waiting on this team to be consistent.

Watching the Mavs light it up with Gafford and Washington makes me scratch my head. I mean we had way more assets. We could’ve used the front court help. Both Larry and JV are banged up. We fricked.

Come on. Being consistently inconsistent is still consistent.

Not only are they banged up but they aren’t very good. It’s ok to appreciate Valancunias’s Ironman like ability to stay on the court while at the same time admit he’s entirely a liability, we’re talking about an offensive big that can’t move his feet on the same team with Z, BI, and CJ. It doesn’t fit at all, I’m going to keep screaming it but Okongwu fits this team like a glove because he will punish the opposing big by hitting open 3s from the corner if they try to sag off. Val kills space and is a very poor defender. This roster doesn’t need the offense Val provides, BI and Z can get to the cup and I’d say even better wirhout Val clogging it

How people can defend keeping Val is beyond me.
Objectively:
BI - negative defender
Z - obviously negative defender
CJ - obviously negative defender
Herb - all nba level defender
Val - negative defender
How are we supposed to win a championship with 1 positive defender. Capela has missed the last week and we’ve seen Okongwu average 19 points, 9 boards, and 1.8 blocks in that time frame. If they were only willing to accept that deal for Herb then ok maybe you don’t make it but it sucks that we have legit 0.0% of winning it all with Val

The refs absolutely took our guys out of it mentally early. They just need to go into Lakers games knowing the refs/league are going to spot them a 10 point differential at the free throw line

This is not true this year. He is actually a positive defender this year in addition to being a plus offensive center.

We need to stop lying to ourselves. I don’t know what metric you are referencing but Val is not a plus defender. The Pels have not had a good C since we lost AD/Boogie.

In fairness, you think the dude who takes 1.2 3s per game at a below average clip is going to punish teams by shooting 3s. That's not exactly an honest assessment either. He simply doesn't shoot enough to affect anything.

Val is an above average center. You can certainly argue fit, and age/going forward but right now Val is better than Okongwu by a decent margin.

It's funny how this sweeping generalization always happens with Jonas when he has a bad game or is matchup'd out of a game.

But it's crickets when he has a great game for us, which has happened more times than bad games.

Huh?

They had more fouls than us in the first quarter, including AD picking up a quick 3.

Our defense took us out of it early.

In the month of February with Capela injured, Okongwu is shooting 58% from 3 on 2.4 attempts a game. Give the guy more minutes and his production went up, put him on a good team with Zion to give him looks. Yeah, he’s a superior player to Val at this point and has a very team friendly deal at 4 year 62 mil. I don’t know what we’re in denial about, the whole team outside of CJ is young and athletic and we’re ok with having a slow footed dinosaur at C. Don’t get it

JV has been fine. He’s won us a few games alone this year. Are we going to extend him? If not, we should’ve traded him. I wouldn’t mind keeping JV but we need to get another C for depth and to actually complement our best player. Z and JV should rarely be on the floor together.

The month of February?? It’s February 10th. How many games have they played in February? 4, maybe 5? Talk about a small sample size.

Capela has been injured during February. Obviously it’s a small sample

However, we have a massive sample to say that JV is not good beside Zion. Every decision should be about maximizing Zion. We need a stretch big who can defer to the perimeter and can clean up defensive mistakes our stars are guaranteed to continue to make
