Can Cook and Diallo be the real deal for the bench?

Granted, 4 summer league games:

Cook is averaging about 22 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists
Diallo is averaging about 20 points, 9 rebounds
Both shooting >50%

Diallo has to learn not to foul out by halftime.

I've been excited about Diallo since we drafted him but he's still pretty raw. I think he's a 15 MPG player every other game. No way he gets on the court ahead of Cunningham who I see as our 3rd big right now.

As for Cook, I don't see any reason to think he can't step in and play impactful minutes right away just like Ish and Frazier before him.

If he plays 20 minutes by halftime, I mean that'd be okay right?

As of now Cook is our backup point guard- so yeah don't we have to be optimistic?

agreed. BUT, he is gonna play 15-20min a game. Not like he is going 35min.

Wished we could've offered more money to Seth Curry than the Mavs did, he would've been a nice fit on this team.

Sacramento swooped in and gave him a 2yr/2mil contract with a PO for year 2...(oh the horror!!)

We just let him go

For Dell's defense - in the summer of 2015 we did not have much room to operate.

We had to take care of members of our core, and Dell did not wanted additional guaranteed money.

We had to take care of ASIK, AJINCA and Dante...

those guys + Casspi. no way he stays in NO for minimum, but I'd rather have his bird rights than Cunningham's at this point.

as for Cook/Diallo, it's summer league. Diallo is promising, but still a ways to go as a contributor in real games. Cook can shoot, but league is full of small, score first PGs. hope he hits, but rolling with him as 3rd or 4th guard is not inspiring

They look like rotation guys to me. Diallo isn't quite a third big yet, but he's getting there. There will be rough spots as he develops against NBA bigs, but playing with Boogie and AD will help his learning curve.

Cook will be a perfectly serviceable backup PG. No more, no less. Which is nice. There's a lot of value in that.

I honestly think so, especially Diallo. His ceiling is till very high both on offense and defense and gives us great depth behind Davis and Cousins. Every time I've seen Cook play, he has impressed me too, and since we need a PG, we could definitely use him.

Terrible mistake that everyone saw coming. He is now starting for Dallas at $3 million a year and is exactly the shooter we so desperately need.

Diallo has promise but he is getting by on sheer size and athleticism in SL on the majority of his buckets. I'm talking some ugly, unconventional offensive moves that are resulting in buckets But you can tell it's good for his confidence. Rebounding, hustle, shot blocking are all on track to translate into the league

I still contend QC may be our best spot up 3P shooter. He has a lot of flaws, though. But if Frazier can give you serviceable minutes so can he

You would think that practicing against AD would drag diallo up to snuff. Some people never figure it all out. He's making 1.3M this season and 1.5M next season as a deep bench/D-league guy.
He can probably just get the teeniest bit more sense of touch on offense around the basket each season and get $2m in 2019, 2.3m 2020.
Investments are the key since pension retirement is 20 or 30 years down the road.
