Buddy and diallo are doing well, seems like they have both been doing well.

Hill is a very important defensive piece. If he can hit the 3 ball and get 10/5/2 I think it'll be worth it.

Bright spot:

Demps/Gentry cannot survive this abomination of a season.

Buddy is one of the main reasons I still watch. He has been really solid as of late.

Cunningham is shooting 40% from 3 and Galloway 36.7%.
2 guys with player options are playing well enough that they'll probably opt out meaning in a lost season you should trade them. That's certainly better than they're playing so bad they'll opt in.

To bring stats to the conversation...

December
Buddy: 22.8 MPG
Shooting 43.4/50.0/66.7 (has taken literally 3 FTs and 99 FGA)
11.1 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 1.5 APG, 0.1 BPG, 0.1 SPG, 1.0 TOV

Per 36, that is 17.5/4.7/2.4

I really like the energy the DC brings to the game. I really wish everybody could play with the motor that DC and Diallo have.

Buddy has been so much better since becoming a starter. I would like to see him get more playing time.

Diallo has some beautiful stats

Per 36
17.8/11.8 on 55% shooting
PER of 21 (15 is average)
WS per 48 of .177 (.1 is average)

Small sample size, garbage time minutes, etc. It's still impressive.

What is the reasonable ceiling for Diallo in terms of a comparable NBA player?

Clint Capela with a jumper?

I've been thinking he'll be in the tier of 25 MPG small ball hustle bigs, like Kenneth Faried and Tristan Thompson. But Diallo's jumper looks so smooth, he even knocked one down the other night just a step inside the arc. Who's a garbage man/defensive energy big with a jumper? PJ Brown doesn't sound very impressive but Shawn Kemp is putting the bar too high.

Do you think he can be starter material? A long-term piece next to AD?

I didn't before but he has impressed me a lot. He legit looks like the type of player that will be going top 10 in all the "hindsight re-drafts" 5 years from now.

I do. It may take a while, look how long it's taken AD to get strong enough, but within the 5 year period you mention I think he can become a pretty good 2nd big. In my trade machine thread I traded for Noel, but I'd consider Monroe too, something I never wanted to do before Diallo. In a few years he'd be able make up for Monroe's deficiencies on defense and with his jumper he can occupy different space on offense. Unlike AD/Ryno/Asik, you could play any combination of AD/Diallo/Monroe and be ok. Ryno/Asik just never had the synergy we hoped for.

defensive energy big

I added the word defensive there specifically to rule Jason Smith out. Jason Smith will always have a special place in Hornicans fans hearts for trucking Blake Griffin, but Diallo will end up way better.
