I'm sorry. I want to like him. I want him to be good, badly. But he isn't. He just isn't any good.

Total liability on defense
Wants to go one on one EVERY time he touches the ball
Can't shoot
NEVER passes on the pick and roll. shite, never even considers it
Not particularly fast, or strong
Pouts every time something doesn't go his way

Yea yea, he's 19, give him time, etc. etc.

But with the young guys that turn into studs, you see flashes of them being great early. The really good ones do consistently as a rookie. I don't see many flashes with Rivers. I think he's had fairly decent game so far this season. 1 out of what, like 15?

I mean hell, Marcus Thornton and Collison were 100 times better as rookies, and now like 4 years later they're both very average players struggling to stay off the bench on average to bad teams. What tells you Rivers will be any better than those two? Nothing

He's 20 years old and hasn't played 1/4 of an NBA season yet. Relax. He already has things like quickness that you can't teach, he just needs to work on his finishing, shooting, and decision-making.

Thornton and Collison were 22 year old rookies

Maybe it's the pessimist in me, but I just feel like next season it will be "he's 21 and in his second year, give him time" and then "he's 22 and in his third season, give him time" etc etc

I just don't see anything about this guy that screams "stud" or even "solid rotation guy". Nothing.

Point taken.

So we have to wait for 3 more years for him to be average? That was a smart move with the 10th overall pick.

You have to be patient with such a raw prospect like Rivers. It may take him 3 or 4 seasons to start figuring things out. He's got a great work ethic so it won't be his own fault if he can't put it together.

That doesn't make any sense

It is totally 100% his fault if he can't put it together

Well, that's 2 or 3 years of college where he would improved. Instead, he's taking his lumps in the NBA. His is 14 games into his career.

Jeremy Lamb is in the D-Leauge. John Henson has sucked, Terrence Ross has sucked, Thomas Robinson, Sullinger, Myer Leonard... none of them are playing well. Not many rookies come in and play lights out.

Marcus Thornton and Collison were also both 3 or so years older than Rivers as rookies.

Kendall Marshall, Myers Leonard, Jeremy Lamb.

But mostly that night I just sulked in disappointment that Drummond went one ahead of us and we just drafted Austin Rivers.

Marshall has been the worst lottery pick by far in the draft. Leonard is just as raw as Rivers, if not more.
Lamb would be redundant with EG on the team since he's a pure SG.

So you're saying they're not better than Rivers. Got it
