Hey guys. I'm a casual Hornets fan, and was wondering what y'all thought. Will Davis ever be a reliable 20/10 type player, or is the reason he isn't there yet because of injuries and the young team around him? (I know he's a rookie, but with all the hype around him, I thought he would have been putting up numbers similar to Eric Gordon)

i think he will.

he's at 13 and 8 right now.

...once he perfects those mid-range jumpers and gets a little more nba ready body-wise, i think he will be a perpetual 20 and 10 player

search for SI article on Davis. 2 separate threads below. davis is not your typical superstar, glamor player.

hes 19, maturing mentally and physically. his per 36 is 16 and 9. he will be knocking on the 20/10 door next season.

I think it'd be wrong to expect him to put up EG type numbers. They are just two different types of players. Not saying it's impossible, but they shouldn't rely on Davis to score loads of points. He's never been the dominant scoring type. He's dominant because of his defensive and rebounding skills. I'm perfectly fine with Davis getting his easy putbacks and alley oops for now. Once he develops some post moves and gets stronger, the scoring will increase. But for now I think he's doing just fine.

Remember this, KG didn't get his first 20/10 season until his 4th year. To me, I think of AD as the next KG so personally I'm gonna compare him to KG as a benchmark for development.

People want to compare AD to tim duncan, but duncan had one of the all time greats in david robinson to help him out and he played at wake forest for 4 years so he came out more mature

All of this, Davis will eventually have a post game.

As of now he's more comfortable playing facing the basket.. Whenever he gets comfortable playing with his back to the basket and develops some post moves, look out.

He'll be a monster when he fills out those broad shoulders

I can tell by a few pixels that your picture appears to be photoshopped. I'm kind of a pro.

Does this mean he'll ask Melo to go get him some Honey Nut Cheerios?

Anyone who watched the game last night would be crazy to think that he won't be great.

In just 21 minutes he put up decent stats and was absolutely EVERYWHERE. Diving for loose balls, creating turnovers, altering shots, forcing jump balls, blocking much bigger opponents.

All while not pouting on the bench late in the game. The kid is special.

Davis has exceeded expectations on offense as a rookie. His jumper is decent and he is AMAZING catching in traffic near the rim. The amount of unbelievable And 1's he's gotten this year has been crazy.

He's 19 years old. He will be a great player in the future.
