Per ESPN: LINK

We're 25 out of 30 teams for those who don't want to read. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

I am really surprised the nets are rated higher than us considering what they did to their franchise by giving up multiple first round picks (Jaylen Brown, 1st round pick this year and next years first) and still being the worst NBA team.

They are under new management since all of that happened and Sean Marks is likeable and from the Spurs system. I also don't think I've heard the name Prokhorov once this season which is another positive sign for the Nets. Dell Demps had a honeymoon period once too.

Also, how is Sac not 30th? I know the Knicks are dysfunctional, but the Kings are really going for broke.

Story posting now: League sources tell @ZachLowe_NBA and me that the Kings have received permission to speak to former Sixers GM Sam Hinkie.

I'm not saying Hinkie would be a bad choice, but Vlade isn't the biggest problem in the Sac FO. I'll take a Win Now mandate from a hands off owner over an idiot owner that thinks he knows basketball.

Sacramento has problems from top to bottom.

Replacing Vlade and bottoming out under an established tank master won't fix everything but it can't be much worse than what they've had. Hinkle just needs to tell Ranadive when he is full of shite like his 4 on 5 defense idea.

who do they need permission from? The league or the team that fired him?

Good question. I assume it's the Sixers and they didn't do a buyout hoping someone else would hire him so he'd walk away from what he's owed.

He's still on the sixers payroll through July (I think it's July).

Would he listen?

You have to highly question it even if he says so now. Which is exactly why I would turn the offer down if I was Hinkie.

The Sixers ownership eventually caved to the cultural and league pressure to give up on "the process" and they were all in for the longest time, Ranadive will have Hinkie out the door in three months because he didn't trade two first rounders for Nick Young or some shite.

Guy is collecting paychecks and has the luxury of waiting for the right opportunity as his reputation continues to climb.

S. Hill's contract looks worse then first thought. because of incentives in his deal

here some remarks per Bobby Marks
LINK
quote:

Solomon Hill Reduced to a role player last season with the Pacers, Solomon Hill has a minutes-played bonus built into the $48 million contract he signed last summer with the Pelicans. Having eclipsed 2,000 minutes, Hill will earn $468,385 in addition to his $11.2 million salary. Because the bonus is deemed likely in 2017-18, Hill will see his cap hit increase from $11.75 million to $12.25 million.

Sacramento can't really multi year tank like the Sixers though. they've got two picks (likely) 6-10 this year and next year's first. but no pick in 2019.

they do have a bunch of semi-interesting young guys on rookie deals and a decent coach. seems like an owner, with a brand new arena, who would like to be good sooner rather than later. it would be much more about developing players and trading for vets (oh my) than Hinkie ever showed any propensity for in Philadelphia.
