Maybe we won't go full retard in the second with gentry out.

This is a game where asik always plays well in. He boxes out and prevents those easy points..

I think it's Gentry's love of small ball and not holding him out for a trade, but BSS writer Kumar pointed out on Twitter that most of the Blazers guys can't be traded until January 15th. Portland is one of the teams that I could see wanting Asik. I'd hate Asik for Leonard but maybe Gentry would love it.

I don't get it either. I'm sitting a few rows behind the bench (not so subtle brag, I know) & I'm telling my 6 year old to yell at the coaches "put in Asik"! Hasn't worked apparently.

Chris Paul would have destroyed Adik in the P&R

Maybe, but we were definitely bleeding possessions.

Jordan had 5 OREBs. yes, Asik likely helps there. Paul/Rivers had 3 each and Wes Johnson had another 4. if the theory is Asik to put a body on Jordan, how is he stopping those guys from getting boards?
also, I've seen people talk about the Pels needing to dictate the game....well going small is the Pels dictating the game and playing to their strengths. the trade off is rebounding- this roster ain't the Warriors or Cavs; there are holes with every lineup and strategy

the frustration is that we've got 17MM dollars for two more years plus a lost first round pick invested in two centers that the head coach clearly would prefer not to play, and a team that appears not to need them anyway.
it's maddening and I do not understand how demps has survived this

That's why we need to send Asik and Moore over to the Bucks for Monroe and Snell.
Then send Jrue to Denver for Gallinari or Chandler.

that is undoubtedly true.
one of the recaps made the point that it was disappointing to see 18% of the cap in Ajinca, Asik, Frazier get DNP-CDs. thought it was weird to include Frazier and his $2M in that group....
i dont think Demps has ever fully grasped the way the league has changed when building his rosters, especially in the frontcourt. the big men rotations he's built over years have been pitiful
it's like the Pels old "continuity" marketing push i.e. we want that b/c the Spurs do it...well saying it and achieving it are very different things. i think Demps like the idea of small ball, but has little idea how it works or, more generously, the means to build it

yeah he doesn't belong there.
As long as Jrue/Reke/Buddy/Moore/Galloway are healthy and playing well, he's not going to play. he's a 3rd string PG. While he's played well and earned an NBA spot on a roster, he's still just a step above a D-League player.

Remember the article 42 did on Monty being risk averse? Demps has the same damn problem. From bidding against himself on players to trading draft picks for young vets, even the original Lakers deal for CP3 had a lot more known quantities in it.
Add Demps' risk averseness to AD's reluctance to play center and you have Demps wasting the cap on bigs he got for Monty hoping they could play for Gentry. As we've found out, Hope is not a Plan.

here then...let me help out mr demps
"small ball" requires players who look and play exactly the opposite of the way asik and ajinca look and play. the way to acquire these players is by drafting them
you are welcome, mr demps

You forgot to mention you have to actually play them once you acquire them.....Diallo.

The lack of playing both Asik/Ajinca has me wondering, if you could dump those 2 tomorrow, would we even want someone like Aldrich or Baynes taking up $6-$8 million in cap space? If there was a team to play a lumbering big against it was the Clippers.

No
If AD can play center then they are not needed
they need a rebounding wing

Fans clamoring for Asik to get more minutes, Aminu being the SF we need, what the hell is going on with this team?

Diallo is a raw rookie. I can understand his minutes being fairly limited right now. However, giving Terrence Jones big minutes instead of them is kind of a head scratcher. Jones is decent at several things, but not really good at anything. He gets abused on the glass, lays more bricks than a mason, and gets stuffed on the reg. I know he's basically a minimum guy and that's all you can expect, but it seems Uncle Alroy feels differently.

dude I would flush asik and ajinca for Lopez or koufous and aminu in a red second
